Real Meals Deli & Cafe — Restaurant in England

I was tempted into the cafe by its name ‘Real Meals’ . I think I was expecting gastric pub grub - so I was disappointed that the menu consisted of breakfast (served until 11) baguettes and sweet stuff !

The deli looked amazing - it’s such a pity they don’t sell deli platters !

Or real meals - as opposed to sandwiches

When my ham and tomato baguette arrived it was delicious. The bread was crusty on the outside and soft and fresh inside. It came with a small side salad with a dressing. I had asked for the cheese to be taken off the baguette as I’m in a diet - but there’s wasn’t a reduction in price (another disappointment)

I ordered coffee and asked for tap water. I was given an empty glass and told there was a jug on the counter . However as a single diner and with the place being busy I didn’t want to leave my table to get water and then lose my table

So all round a few things to think about

If your wanting a baguette it’s a great place , if you’re wanting real meals...

This place was faultless! We arrived in the hope of finding a free table on a Sat lunchtime and the place was full but as luck would have it, a couple were leaving. We grabbed a table and a lovely waitress was with us immediately to clear the table and take our drinks order. She was enthusiastic, friendly, helpful and informative. We both ordered from the specials board, my husband had the spicy lentil soup (£5) and I had the baked mushroom topped with bacon and brie with salted potatoes and salad (£10). Both were scrumptious. We ate lunch and breakfast on separate days at Real Meals and they were both excellent. The service was superb, the value was excellent and the food was brilliant. For lunch we enjoyed the chowder and leek and potato soup, both of which were home made and really tasty with good portions of garlic bread or crusty roll to support them. The full English breakfast was great, not greasy, very tasty and plenty big enough. The deli is well supplied and we also bought lovely lemon tarts and cheeses as well as fars of delights.
