Fountainhead — Restaurant in England

This was the second time we have had the vegan Sunday lunch, our visit was 9th Feb 25. So you go once and you say that it was the best vegan roast you’ve had, ever! Then you go again a few months later thinking it can’t be as good. It was absolutely sublime. Every morsel on the plate was divine. Crispy spuds, a lovely assortment of veg and a delish wellington with tons of flavour. My other half dislikes anything green, he ate the greens!!!! I love gravy, this was top notch gravy and I asked for more and finished that too. Food aside, I have to say Cyd and Etti ( I don’t know them I wanted to give them a shout out) were fabulous. Two lovely people who clearly love their jobs tended to us in a manner that was spot on. With care and friendliness that you don’t often feel you need to comment on. Nothing was too much trouble. Quite possibly the best pub in the world! I love this place. Amazing staff, especially the manager. The food is absolutely amazing too. A great selection of drinks and snacks and is really inviting with the lighting and interior decorating. very clean and in a great location as in the middle of town but just enough to still feel relaxing: perfect! I have spent many evening in there in the past, and many new year's eves and pride day where the staff are super and really get involved and stay happy despite being rushed off their feet. Please make an effort to go there at different times and days as it is always brilliant but has a different feel to it at different times and days but always in a good way! Don’t go in expecting that they will honour drinks on the online menu. We ordered a cocktail that was (and I still is…) present on the online menu, but was then charged £18 for it - not being told the price until I was tapping my card. I asked why the price was so high and was told “it’s because it’s not on our menu, so I needed to price up the individual components separately”, followed by “yeah I probably should have told you, sorry”. I said that it was on the menu online but apparently that doesn’t matter?? Barely apologetic, terrible service.

Addition: Now I’ve had a response indicating that my review is misleading as the £18 was for 1 cocktail and 1 pint.. wrong. In total I was charged just short of £24 for both drinks. I was also NEVER told that it is not on the menu until I complained. Appalling response from the venue - train your...
