The food is quite good with generous portions and an interesting variety of choices, including specials. The service is provided by one person who handled all the serving and clearing, and I can’t fault her - she is lovely, but given her load, it was a bit slow. My spouse ate the soup of the day (potato leek) with garlic bread and then had the Buddha bowl leaving no room for dessert, so the next time we come, he said he’s skip the starter. I had the roasted cauliflower starter, which was quite tasty, the spanakopita (could have been hotter, IMHO) that came with Greek salad. I decided to take some of the main course home for tomorrow (thinking we’d share a dessert ☺️). The atmosphere is OK, though a bit noisy, though I’m glad to see it so popular, and too warm. There was no ventilation, so that even though the outside air was very comfortable, inside was stuffy. But overall we enjoyed and will definitely be back during our stay here in Exeter. I forgot to take photos of the main courses. Update: we visited a second time and this time I remembered to take photos of my spouse’s main course (a beet-bean burger). I didn’t have one - just the same cauliflower as the first time, and then something not on the regular menu, but one of the specials: asparagus with a cauliflower coconut mash. It was good. But we did not come a third time before leaving Exeter, feeling we kind of exhausted the options of what we’d like.

Decided to visit here as one of us had amazing memories of the place from her time a politely undefined number of years ago when she was at University, and it absolutely did not disappoint. We had the dipping platter to start which was a nice selection of dips and warm fresh pittas and foccacia plus some red and green olives. They were all great but the salsa verde was a particular highlight, I was tempted to ask for a jar of it to take away! For mains I chose the jackfruit, beet and bean burger which was great paired with the smoky tomato relish. I had the salad (look at me adulting like a real adult!) which was actually three in one, a green salad, a lentil and carrot mix and a colour slaw. I chose the salad the instant I heard you got all three of the daily selections and the combo made it far more special than any salad I've had before when dining out and more interesting than the jacket wedges option for me. Finally for desert was the chocolate torte with biscotti crumb and amaretto and ice cream. The torte was rich but was balanced by the crumb and the ice cream. Every course was generous and delicious, leaving us all stuffed full and I can't fault the value this place gives as it was mid priced but high quality (and portion size). I won't be hesitating to go back, especially as every course had multiple options I struggled to choose between.

TRY SOMETHING NEW, SUPPORT LOCAL, TASTY FOOD AND BRILLIANT SERVICE - you won’t be disappointed!!!

This restaurant was quite frankly one of the best services and experiences I’ve had in Exeter - always on the look out for more plant-based inspiration! I have a diagnosed gluten allergy and the staff handled this fantastically well, far better than any chain I have visited and didn’t make me feel as if it was my duty to check everything - servers must be aware of the menu also and this server was amazing!

My 2 friends after recommendation from the team ordered the roasted vegetable focaccia with hummous and wedges on the side! Well the feedback from them, 1 cleared plate and 1 taking home the other half of the sandwich for lunch the next day, I think that says it all!! Too good to be wasted!

I love grazing platters and dips and little bits of flavours so I ordered the Mediterranean grazing board as my main it came with the most delicious side dips of tsaziki, hummous, salsa verde and a white bean dip that were quite frankly that tasty I ordered a side of wedges to ensure they didn’t go to waste and I scooped up the last bits from their pots!! I had gluten free bread and some tortilla chips, the olives were so fresh and next time I’d order it and take it away with a glass of wine in the sunshine it was just delightful!

Portion sizes are that big you won’t be disappointed and so much value for money, my only regret from this place is that my eyes were far bigger than my belly and I didn’t have room to sample one of their desserts!

So much love herbies we will most...
