Great pub/cafe/bakery. This breakfast pie served with hash browns, fried egg and lovely fresh bread is a delight. The pie and the bread are made on site and from scratch and it was crammed full of sausage, bacon, tomato, beans and mushroom. The pastry is a really excellent short crust that is slightly crumbly but neither soggy or dry. The pub itself its quite recently renovated, the proprietors are very friendly and rightly proud of their fare and it manages to pull off the slightly surreal combination of pub and bakery (you can buy cakes, bread and pastries from the bakery counter). I'll be going back to try the dinner pies and also the all-you-can-eat breakfast on Friday mornings for around £7.

New chef at The Clifton so thought we would try their Carvery. Was pleasantly surprised, their first day and it was gorgeous! If you are in town it definitely worth popping in for a true homemade roast. Large portion and lots to choose from. Friendly staff and plenty of parking.

A great pub, 3 minute walk from Jury's Inn. Huge. Very welcoming & easy-going staff. Good music played in background. Amazing "fish n chips" meal for £8,35. (See photo). Homemade batter. Excellent tarter sauce. Friendly patrons. Thank you, Clifton Inn! Thanx to the chef!

Not been here for a while as it became designated for students and the locals stopped going it as been recently refurbished and seems to be aimed at a variety of people a pool table two TV's and various seating there is outdoor seating but used by people who smoke parking is across the road to which you have to pay back inside a very unique indoor bakery with a good selection of baguettes paninis and pies ECT at excellent prices the place is within walking distance of city centre here is the question would we go again yes but only for the bakery the new owners are obviously injecting a new lease of life into the premises and we...

Visit 1:No pies on Sunday or Monday! Had a carvery on Sunday, this is the sole choice. Tasted great! Good quality crackling! Yum. Cauliflower cheese, tasted very good and not too soft. Vegetables were well cooked. Staff were pleasant. Good selection of beer and cider, all good!

Visit 2: Went for a ride on my motorcycle to church and met a mate afterwards. The Clifton had a good selection of alcohol free drinks, I went for the non-alcoholic Guinness which compared to the original is very good. Good atmosphere in the pub, groups of people meeting up.

Pool table is fun to use with mates.

Reasonable beer...
