My wife and I visited Ramen Dayo! for the first time today, bang on midday and ordered their tonkotsu miso ramen with aji tamago. After living in Japan for 6 years and my wife being Japanese, we were really looking forward to some proper ramen. Out of all the ramen we’ve tried in the UK, I’d say this is the best you’ll find. The location and shop’s interior is fantastic, and the staff couldn’t be more helpful. The taste of the soup was great, true to what you’d find in Japan. But after much deliberation we went for three stars. The first was because the soup was lukewarm. I’m not sure if this was because they’d just opened for the day and the broth wasn’t hot enough, or if they just think that’s what people here want, but it was really disappointing. A bowl of ramen should be hot the whole time you’re eating it. My wife wondered if it was a safety thing, but your average bowl of soup here is served much hotter. The second was for the noodles. The owners have clearly spent a lot of time perfecting their taste. The broth, the toppings. We loved the chashu and aji tamago. But the noodles just sucked. Most likely frozen, they had an unpleasant texture and aftertaste. While making/ordering fresh noddles is probably more expensive and hard work, it just seems like such a waste after putting in so much hard work everywhere else. For the average customer - go. It’s fantastic and you’ll love it. This review is for the owner - I really hope you give your ramen another taste and improve it. We’d be back in a heartbeat if you did.

Honestly I was kind of disappointed of the quality of service. The food was great, especially black miso ramen and spicy fries. The decor is also amazing, once you enter the place you can travel from Scotland to Japan in one second. But the service was poor, the lady who served us seemed bored and upset. My friend asked about one thing from the menu because she couldn't remember the proper name and she must've said it wrong, because the waitress said "we're not Chinese restaurant, we're Japanese" which was not nice. We obviously knew that, we just weren't sure about the proper name of the dish. The second thing we didn't like was that we asked for draught beers but they didn't have any so we were offered the one from the bottles. We obviously agreed but we were a bit shocked when we saw the price at the end, because it was not on the menu. They also added 10% service charge, which is completely fine but I think it should be included in the menu as well. After all, I would really recommend the food and the place, I only wish the staff would be nicer, because we felt not really welcomed there. I don't think I will be coming back.

Happened upon this gem when on a recent day out in the West End. It’s small, so book in advance. The food is amazing. I had Sansho Pepper Ramen, which for those unfamiliar, is a chicken broth consisting of chashu chicken, charred baby corn, bean sprouts, spring onions and sansho pepper. I was advised by our server that it is very spicy and has the potential to numb my face! Now, this intrigued me and possessing a somewhat delicate constitution I knew I would probably regret it before too long but it was so good at the time. Sides of togarashi fries: skinny fries coated in a special blend of togarashi seasoning, crispy onions and nori seaweed; and also chicken gyozas rounded off the perfect meal. It was all washed down by a tasty pint of Asahi lager. No room for dessert, unfortunately. Maybe next time. The servers are lovely and very helpful in explaining the menu and dishes, which are very reasonably priced. I love the decor and atmosphere and highly recommend a visit.

If I could give 0 I would have, only reason its one star is cause if the food - was okay, on the salty side I would say. I never mention names but this is the most horrendous service I've had from all my experience of being a foodie. I belive our server is called kirsty based on the name on our bill (the girl with tattoos on her arms)

Side note:during the stay the place had 5 table, 2 tables was near paying off their bill. And we were never rude or noisy, we were just so hungry.

I'll give the list of things that went wrong:

• We order 2 snacks (edamame & wakame salad) with our 3 mains and 1 cocktail and rest just tap water. Only 1 snack arrived and then few mins later our mains arrived, it took me, to chase up for my salad after 5 mins hoping she would remember, but didn't.

Then she screamed it to kitchen so I assume she forgotten my order, although I was the 1st one to place my order. But here the ridiculous part it took her at least 15-20mins to get her colleague to tell me they had none in the building. (She was the nice one, she tired to help and offer make a different salad) but I was already done with my main course already.

• At that moment, I also had to chase up the drinks with this lovely girl. Cause we still haven't gotten them. And here's the point, the ramen was on the little salt side so it made me very thirsty. And kirsty didn't give us our water we asked. This was like nearly 35 mins into our stay. We didn't mind the cocktail being late but how can someone forget tap water. As hospitality worker I've forgotten give customer water but max 10min not nearly as bad as her. Plus it was her colleague that give us the drink not even her.

• To be honest at that time I wasn't annoyed at her but what ticked me off was the end. She aggressive put down the bill while my 2 friends was still eating the big bowl of edamame beans (like maybe halfway through them) I was gonna ask for the bill when they were closer to the end of the bowl but she handed it beofre I asked.

Then on the bill, the salad I never got was still on it which was fine. I asked nicely to remove it and then when she asked anything else, I asked the service charge to be removed as honestly how was that acceptable. Maybe if the place was busy and everyone running around.

• Then she made a face when I asked it to be removed. Then this were it ticked me off - getting payment from us was so unprofessional. Shoving the card machine in my face, and as soon as we finish paying she quote on quote "I need table back" and walks away. We were gonna leave anyway after the girls finish their edamame but was that was my final straw that made me leave a review.

• I honestly wasn't gonna with the things that happened with our food and drinks but this unbelievable behaviour. She had 2 larger table empty, if there was a booking or something you could have asked nicely, and we would have been fine to leave on time.

•Also when she was taking our order didn't mention the egg was extra cost, would have been nice to say it when asking if you want egg. And the flavour of the edamame too was a little shocking to find out on the bill for the extra cost. But this is also can be our fault not investigating the menu more indepth.

So overall the 1 star for service is for the lovely gal that tired to help and the cooks. Not for her. I really didn't want to pay for this at all £56.70 for such a...

One of the worst services ever! I went there to have dinner with my family. The food was so so, nothing marvelously delicious. We also had a baby with us, then we wanted to pay our bill. One waitress with curly hair wearing glasses came to our table and gave us the bill with one hand while the other hand holding a tray full of drinks. Maybe she thought she was professional enough to do that, but she failed. The glasses came off the tray and were broken on the floor. One of the drinks was a glass of red wine, and that wine splashed all over my "white" trousers and shirt!

They cleaned the floor incredibly fast, but the thing is "no one" even cares to ask me if I was ok? Was I or anyone got hurt from the broken glasses? Seriously, I was standing there for 10 minutes long watching them cleaning the floor but was totally ignored... Then I talked to a manager and told her what had happened. She was nice, and she apologized (the thing that she didn't do). She then told me to take the my clothes to the dry cleaning place, and the restaurant would take care of the bill. But I also told her that if it's not washable, then they should be responsible for the cost of my clothes.

I then went to the dry cleaning shop, and they couldn't clean the trousers 100% the stains are still visible in the light. The shirt is fortunately fine. I went back to the restaurant with the bill, and they paid for "just" that, and the general manager refused to pay for the whole garment which I find it irresponsible. Another thing is my 1 year old nephew could have gotten hurt if my sister didn't move him a minute earlier into his trolley!!

It was my first time there, and there won't be another time. I wouldn't recommend the place unless you wanna get drinks or soups pouring on your heads without any apologies! Oh and also any...
