We tried this new Indian restaurant to celebrate my husband's birthday. We couldn't have done better. It is fairly small with quite an intimate atmosphere. The decor is modern and tasteful. The food was wonderful and the staff were friendly and welcoming. The menu has all the usual favorites, but with some more unusual additions, and some creations of the chefs own. To start, a shami kebab for my husband and Hariali chicken for myself. It is one of the chefs own recipes, chicken thighs in a light, creamy, garlicky, sauce with coriander. I loved it. It also comes as a main dish, I would certainly consider it another time. To follow Masala beef for him, Tandoori king prawns for me. My prawns were cooked and seasoned to perfection, served on a sizzling skillet with onions and peppers, with a side salad with a tasty dressing and decorated with pomegranate seeds served separately. I chose pilau rice to accompany the dish, but their home made nan bread was an alternative option. My husband chose a keema nan as a side dish and I tried a bit. It was very good. I actually managed some mango ice cream to finish as well. It was smooth creamy and delicious and the perfect foil to the seafood. Along with a couple of pints of cobra beer our meal came to just over £68. It was excellent value for a beautiful meal created by a talented chef served in lovely surroundings by friendly, welcoming staff. We will return we and wish them...
Read moreMy wife and myself went to curryish for my 60th birthday, after seeing a good review on Hull live. We got the there and seated, they told us they didn't have a drink licence yet but could have one complementary drink, this was so annoying as they could of told us this when we rang to book, as we didn't take anything and was told there was a local Tesco nearby. We ordered a pickle tray to share then our starters but we had hardly finished when it was taken away, then arrived our starters almost immediately both starters were nice but then we got asked if everything was ok, then followed by another 3 people, the same happend on the main course too a bit annoying when your trying to have a lovely intimate meal. Then the mains came my wife got the lamb which she said was nice and I got the vindaloo was ok, although it could of done to be hotter. We paid up and recieved 2 small dishes one with mints in and the other with what looked like hundreds and thousands but were aniseed (like a breath freshener) these 2 dishes were the same ones as the table before us was given that people had had the their fingers in, so not good. Overall for a Monday night was quite full for a small place but that must of been the fastest meal I've ever had, food was ok, a lot of work needs to go on front of house, music was added half way through our visit, and no deserts,probably...
Read moreClean. A small seating area. The staff were all polite and welcoming. We didn't have to wait long before our meal was served. My bf ordered the railway curry and I ordered Tikka Masala (I thought it was a curry, but on arrival it was chicken and onions.) My bf decided he'd share his curry with me and it was delicious. I'm lactose intolerant. The staff talked me through meals I could have with a coconut substitute. I was meant to take photos, but wasn't practical at the time as it was quite busy, plus there was a guy already taking photos for Deliveroo of food being brought out, not to mention we were hungry and keen to try the food. Overall a great experience. For x2 starters, X2 mains, 1 portion of Chips, 1 Naan bread, 1 portion of Saffron rice, a glass of diet coke, and a bottle of water, it was just under £60. Will we return? Yes. I'll just know next time to check if I'm actually getting a tikka masala curry or try...
