I phoned this hotel before I booked it to ask if they had any wheelchair friendly rooms in a quiet part of the hotel. I was told yes, when we arrived at the hotel we were shown our room which was next to the reseption, again I asked is this a quiet room, yes was the reply. We quickly descovered there was not enough room to get my wheelchair around the bed, so we were told we could not change rooms, we could move the bed, which we did. When we settled down to sleep we heard everyone who came in, every word they said, the doors slamming, the phone calls, the security alarm (tripped by accident) we were told. Eventually we fell asleep around 2am. At 6am we were woken by loud voice calling all his work mates to get up, he was right outside our door, then more doors slamming, then him talking to the reseptionist and his crew. That stopped when they all left at 7am. Then another man started going on about all the big bags of pillows blocking the corridor, two men moved them, talking the whole time. We fell back to sleep until 11am, when again the talking and the phone and banging doors started. We again asked if we could move rooms, but again we were told no, even though several people had booked out, we could not have them because they could not clean them, I offered to clean it myself, but the answer was still no. We found out during all this that we were meant to have room 7, but someone had swapped it over, obviously they too had complained about room 10. We left...
Read morePleasant little family run " Motel ". I preferred to stay here rather then else where, mainly as food supermarkets are literally next door.
Their services towards my every request is fantastic, & to be frank would put to Shame much bigger establishments. The only downside is the limited parking space on site which does tend to get full of contractor's van's if you don't get here early enough, even then you can make use of the side street.
Rooms are on the petite side, but comes with en-suite, wardrobe, obligatory flat screen on the wall, kettle, teas/coffee, etc all here. Extra heater/ blanket's - not a problem to get.
Spare towels, shower gel, it's all here and there's Tesco Express nearby for those late night emergencies.
Lidl / Aldi are on the same side of the road. Their fresh breads / choco twists are an absolute pleasure . Portuguese Nata's are amazing, but you have to be quick.
Plus their other bi-weekly sale offers that they have. So as a shop-a-holic, you simply cannot get bored for the day/evening.
I ordered/bought a variety of foods every day from the vast array of take aways.
From pizzas to kebabs, fresh Tandoori naan wraps to tasty 'fish & chips' it's all here on the...
Read moreI stayed at the Dorchester to participate in the "Sea of Hull" art installation. The staff knew it was happening and made sure we knew about the towel charge beforehand so we could make sure we didn't stain any of their linen with the paint. The welcome was warm and the staff throughout the stay were very friendly and helped us whenever we needed be it refills for our sugar, tea and milk as well as loaning us the hairdryer.||||The hotel is conveniently located a short walk from the town centre but far enough away that it is quiet during the evening. the hotel has free parking for guests which is right next to the row of rooms so you can park your car right in front of your window if you wish.||||The hotel offers free wifi in the rooms, free tea and coffee facilities and a TV with freeview, a DVD player and USB capability. Given we were up at 2am on the Saturday morning we spent a large amount of our time in the room which was comfortable and well equipped.||||We will definitely return to the Dorchester the next time we plan a stay in Hull and recommend it as a convenient and budget hotel when traveling to Hull. Thank you for...
