I had been meaning to try Everything Toastie for ages and it does not disappoint!! From the staff to the drinks to the food, it was absolutely perfect and far exceeded any expectations I had.
The atmosphere is so lovely here, the staff are so nice, chatty and welcoming and you can tell that this place is a labour of love. Around me I could hear customers so genuinely interested in the food, asking how things were made and exclaiming about how excited they were to eat here.
I had a berry blast smoothie and a sweet button toastie with the house sauce. The berry smoothie was both thick and smooth, super refreshing and tasted sooo flavourful with such a bright colour. The sweet button toastie includes cheese, sauteed mushrooms with onions and raspberry jam and the balance between the sweetness of the jam and the earthiness of the mushrooms was genuinely one of the best things I have ever eaten, like, I think my life changed when I ate that toastie. All of this before I even mention how amazing the house sauce is, the toastie is already beyond amazing on its own but the house sauce literally elevates the whole experience and brings out all the flavours ten-fold. Whilst eating I could literally hear someone sat at the table next to me absolutely losing their mind over how amazing the house sauce is and I could not agree more. Not to forget that every toastie literally comes with soup or the house sauce included in the price which is just absolutely amazing value for money.
They also make and sell baked goods like cakes, brownies and African doughnuts which we got to take home with us!
Accessibility-wise, the shop has a small step up at the entrance (shorter than your average curb), a wide walkway to the counter, double doors and an accessible toilet.
Can't wait to come back again, thanks for the...

I’ve been a chef over twenty years and food is my passion, I know good taste, texture and flavour.
I’ll tell you something, this toastie is something truly special. I’ve eaten great grilled sandwiches and toasties around the world, and none of them come even close to this one I had here! It blew my socks straight off! “IMPECCABLE!!!”
The lady and young gentleman running the place were super friendly and helpful, they had a huge smile on their faces and made us feel at home! Thank you so much, it was a true honour to taste your food and meet you, a true culinary pleasure indeed! 👌🏻 (the best food I’ve eaten in Hull in a long long long time!) ✨11/10 from us!✨
I had the pepperoni one with the authentic Western African house sauce. The toastie had the perfect amount of caramelisation on the edges, the perfect crunch from sourdough bread, and the filling inside was something truly magic! (The cheese pull and flavour was perfection) everything was seasoned to perfection too. This experience was better than some Michelin starred restaurants I’ve eaten in, no joke! I’m deadly serious. (Go and find out for yourselves) 👌🏻
The western African house sauce was fresh, and packed with so much flavour, I’ve tasted nothing like this before, and I’m amazed of how much flavour this lady put into this sauce alone. You can certainly tell that she is a very talented chef, and has a very refined palette, I tasted so much passion with every bite, flawless cooking.
I can’t recommend this place enough! If you are in the city of Hull and need a bite to eat, look no further, this place will tick all those boxes for you! Without a single doubt in my mind. 👌🏻
Thank you again guys, we will be back for...

There are sandwiches. There are toasties. And then there is Toastie in Hull a small corner café that serves what can only be described as West African soul pressed between two slices of bread.
When you walk in, the air smells of butter, roasted peppers, and something smoky that whispers: you’re about to be happy. The menu reads like Lagos met Leeds and decided to stay for lunch. Forget your standard cheese and ham. Here, you’ll find Suya Beef Melt, Jollof Chicken Toastie, and something dangerously addictive called Plantain Paradise.
The Suya Beef Melt deserves its own passport. The meat is smoky, tender, spiced with that peppery kick that could wake up a sleeping ancestor. Melted cheese oozes like a guilty secret. Each bite is heat, savour, and nostalgia a grilled sermon on the glory of spice.
Then there’s the Plantain Paradise: sweet, caramelised plantain dancing with spicy peanut butter and chilli jam. It shouldn’t work. But it does like a Fuji beat on a Hull bus.
The bread? Crunchy gold. The butter? Sinful. The flavours? Bold enough to slap your palate and hug it after.
Hull might not be Lagos, but Toast is bridging continents one sandwich at a time. You’ll leave wondering why Pret still exists. This isn’t fusion food it’s confession food. The kind you eat, sit back, and whisper, “God is good.”
If you ever find yourself in Hull, skip the posh brunch spots. Go to Toast. Order the Suya Melt. Burn your tongue. Thank me later, get a luxury hot...
