We spent a wonderful week at the Hideout and felt very welcome and comfortable. The location right next to Hull Minster and in the middle of the old town is fantastic as a starting point for sightseeing and one or two pub crawls. We especially liked the Trinity Market next door - an indoor market with food stalls, groceries, gifts and - once a week – even a live music event is taking place. Despite the central location of the hotel, apart from the chiming of the church clock, it is very quiet there at night. The flat was spotless, very cosy and the interior was beautifully designed. What is exceptional is the fact that the guests are trusted so much that they can get anything they might need (extra crockery or cutlery, blankets, sugar, toilet paper, etc.) from a separate room without having to ask a member of staff. A special mention must go to the extraordinarily friendly treatment by manager Enya, who fulfilled our every special request in no time at all. Honestly, it didn't feel like staying in a hotel, but like visiting friends.
Still, there were a few tiny things that would have made our visit even more perfect: What we really lacked were storage facilities for our clothes. There was a clothes rail for hanging up our stuff, but the apartment lacked drawers or a shelf for things you can't hang up. We also missed a coat rack or at least hooks for our jackets in the hallway of the flat, although there would have been enough space for this. The same in the bathroom: there was unfortunately not a single hook to hang the towels, and on the towel radiator there was simply not enough space for four towels and a shower mat. A shelf for shoes would have been nice, too. Last but not least, there was one thing that bothered me in particular: the fridge was so loud that we had to close the door to the living-dining area at night in order to sleep. However, I would like to emphasise that these criticisms are not meant in a derogatory way, but rather as a suggestion for improvement.
All in all, we felt incredibly comfortable at the Hideout and will...
Read moreThis is one of the best hotel experiences I have had. Firstly, the cleanliness is top tier. The entire apartment was spotless and smells fresh and its reassuring knowing that a place you are staying in is extremely clean. In the room you have everything you need. The SMART TV is a nice touch so you can watch Netflix etc. If you like to cook whilst you are away then they have everything you need to whip something up. The microwave and kettle is useful and the oven easy to use. I loved the bathroom, it's a nice modern design and is a good size with a wonderful walk in shower. Sleeping was an absolute dream as the bed is super comfortable and large. What an amazing place to stay! The hotel is in a fantastic location with plenty of shops just around the corner as well as a lovely little market right next door. It also isn't too far from the sea so if you are someone who goes on walks or for a run then it's perfect. Staff are friendly and they also have a washing machine service which is such a brilliant idea. I also love that you are given a code to access the budding and your room. No faffing around with keys! They also have tumble dryer so don't worry about drying clothes yourself. If you run out of bits and bobs for the room then they have a store cupboard you can access with your individual code so you can grab it yourself. Brilliant. There is no parking on site however you can pay for parking at a relatively small cost which is a 3/4 minute walk from the hotel. Its gated and has 24 hour access which gave me peace of mind. Parking wasn't an issue at all. The only downside I would say is that there is no freezer and it would be useful on an extended stay and that the temperature control in the room is a little fiddly. Occasionally I would find that the bedroom is a little too hot. They do have fans but they are rather loud. I coped by just opening the windows and leaving the door open. Honestly though, the hotel is ten ten. If you are staying in Hull, this is the only...
Read moreWe absolutely loved Hideout - we have recently stayed in lovely contemporary places in Amsterdam and Barcelona - but the whole family felt that Hideout Hull was best (who would have thought it!).
Check in was so easy and the key pad system was simple and convenient.
The thoughtful design of the 2 bedroom apartment was perfect for us and the blend of ultra modern with stylish pieces of older furniture works so well.
The kitchenette was great, rooms were warm, the bathrooms were gorgeous, water was hot and the beds and pillows were super comfortable. The information provided for us was just right and we loved getting an email about weekend events - really helpful.
Some people have commented about the Minster bells being intrusive but for us this made the stay even more special - what a location - and we didn't use the thoughtfully provided ear plugs!
Tare was absolutely great as our only confusion was about car parking because of the road closures due to the wonderful light show - but very quickly sorted out.
We loved being so close to the wonderful old town (positively Dickensian in places), bought amazing food from Trinity Market, walked along the mighty Humber and visited some great independent cafes and shops.
We didn't have enough time to get around the museum quarter so we are already planning a return to Hideout next year.
Hull turned out to be a revelation. It has so much to offer - great food culture and history - and Hideout is the perfect location from which to explore. It should be on everyone's itinerary as a top UK city break destination - again - who would...
