Very disappointed in the service we had. Me and a follow work colleague supported a gentleman with autism and learning disabilities to this cafe to have a cake with ice cream. The owner came and seated us and seemed very friendly. A lovely waitress came over took our order and said it wouldn't be long. A few minutes later the owner of the cafe came over and said “3 people for one dessert?” I replied explaining that we were working and just supporting the gentleman out and explained that he had learning disabilities, to which he replied “you cant even afford a coffee”. I then told him that my financial situation was irrelevant. He then proceeded to tell us we had to sit outside as it was lunch time and we were taking a table for customers that might want lunch, bearing in mind it was heavily raining. I said this would not be possible as we had already sat down and ordered our food. He told us that next time we would have to sit out side for such a small order. We then told him it was fine we wouldnt be coming back after this due to the rudeness. He said it was not rude but it’s lunch time, and they serve food not just cakes. Again not seeing the issue as we did pay for a cake and ice cream. At this point I said that i would be leaving a review online. He then changed his tune very quickly and offered us free coffee or waffle which then insulted us further due to the comment made about not being able to afford a coffee, we declined this and said we would leave as soon as the cake had been eaten. He then hovered trying to apologise for the rudeness, we said we appreciated the apology but that it was too late for that and that we would not...
Read moreWe are delighted to have been able to grab a table for 2 last night at the opening of 'Franco's italiano by night"
The food was sublime! The trio of bruschetta was absolutely phenomenal with a beautiful generous portion given.
The pesto pasta was extremely tasty and when I asked for chicken to be added, they didn't batter an eyelid.
The deliza di limone was out of this world, light, fluffy and sweet with a generous squirt of lemon glaze.
Most importantly the atmosphere was electric with many parties of people from different nationalities enjoying each other's company and enjoying the beautiful food from Angelina and her team in the kitchen.
The price was extremely reasonable and the staff were attentive and friendly.
Congratulations all on an amazing first night!
A spectacular place if your looking for that authentic Italian cafe/restaurant feel and buzz of Napoli.
A stones thrown away from the Grand Theatre if you're looking for something to eat before a show. After last night's success I'd recommend you book in advance as I suspect this beautiful little place will become extremely...
Read moreI ordered Cawl, it looked nice, however it was quite salty. The side bread rolls were toasted, would have been more traditional to have it with a soft bread roll and slices of cheese, especially if your selling it as " cawl ". It was hard to spread my butter on the toasted bread as it was solid.
It was very busy, very loud, I found it hard to relax in there, the older guy with glasses was very loud and determined to shove people anywhere, just not to loose custom.
I noticed he moved a man sat on his own half way through his meal to a different table, just to squeeze in a couple of teenagers.
But worst of all, the older guy with glasses kept belching behind his hand, not sure if he knew that I could hear him through all the noise in the cafe, but it turned my stomach.
I couldn't wait to get out of there.
Safe to say, I won't...
