So glad I found this diamond of a place! Travelled from Leeds to see the illuminations and have always struggled to find a 100% HMC certified halal non alcoholic place to eat however after a quick phonecall was pleasantly verified and assured it was. It was a little bit of a struggle to find however on the way back home I realised how close to the tower it was and felt a little silly I didn't realise sooner! (As it was just off the promenade road 🤣)
The welcome we got was so sweet from the staff and seated immediately..
My son and daughter opted for the hummus and bread starter and husband and I the soup of the day (lentil) which were all very tasty. We then opted for the platter for 4. We did not realise how much food we actually had over ordered until this beautifully presented platter came along. (meats, kabuli pilau, real potato chips & salad) All food was freshly cooked to perfection. Husband had also ordered a lahmacun which we shared prior to the platter arriving.
We chose not to order any drinks (apart from daughter who had a tango) and chose to have tap water as we are actively boycotting.. (this would be an added bonus if this restaurant did alternative drinks)
We underestimated the size of the portions and although the food was lovely we simply couldnt finish it but chose to take it away as it was simply too good to leave!
And to finish the meal we had a pot of turkish tea with baklava.
The meal came to around £85 but we had ordered way to much! I think we could have halved the total if we just ordered what we could eat (I would have got the platter for 2 @ around £29 rather than the platter for 4 @ £49 and the starters could have been shared too.
The waiters and the chef were so polite, courteous and attentive (I could not fault them) and the chef came out personally to ask if yhe food was ok which was really nice of him.
I would reccommend this place to anyone coming to blackpool and I hope it stays around so I can come back and...
Read moreThe Istanbul & Kabul halal restaurant in Blackpool is a fantastic new addition to the area, bringing authentic flavors and beautifully presented dishes. We tried the lamb chops, lamb ribs, and Mughal pilão, and each dish was exceptional.
The lamb chops were beautifully marinated, tender, and grilled to perfection, with a smoky, rich flavor that truly highlighted the quality of the meat. Served alongside a vibrant, fresh salad and seasoned rice, this dish was a delight in every bite.
The lamb ribs were equally impressive, with succulent, juicy meat that easily came off the bone. The seasoning was spot on, adding depth to the natural flavors of the lamb. Paired with crunchy red cabbage slaw and a side of yogurt sauce, the lamb ribs were a perfect combination of flavors and textures.
Finally, the Mughal pilão was an absolute highlight. This Afghan-style pilaf had fragrant basmati rice, generously garnished with raisins and julienned carrots that added a subtle sweetness. The lamb pieces were tender and flavorful, making this dish both hearty and delicious.
Istanbul & Kabul halal offers a unique and flavorful dining experience, blending Middle Eastern and Afghan culinary traditions. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, and the portions are generous. Highly recommended for anyone in Blackpool looking for a taste of authentic lamb dishes and...
Read moreSurprising gem of a place in the middle of town. Popped in not expecting much but was I surprised. Please don't confuse this with a typical fast food greasy kebab shop. They make their own food, from the delicious fresh fluffy bread to the kebabs and rices. Yes you do have to wait a few minutes for your food but this is a good sign. Sadly didn't get a chance to try the afghani biryani but could see the chef working his magic on the special stove they cook it in. It's nice that Blackpool has somewhere with a bit more authenticity and quality than usual. The chefs are actually from Afghanistan and Turkey as the name would suggest and the menu has nods to these cultures. Nothing was overly spicy but everything was cooked fresh and with plenty of flavour. Prices were very reasonable for the quality and portions were huge. Was nice to try the tukish tea and baklava as a pudding as bought back memories of holidays in Antalya :) Interior decor was modern, clean and stylish (despite the rather dated bland outdoor sign). Toilet facilities were spotless too. Staff were very friendly and attentive. I will definitely go again when I visit Blackpool. As a tip I'd suggest parking in Sainsburys for...
