We visited Glasgow and this pub specifically. As we reached the 1960s style pub, it had the look of a building that had remained untouched. Inside, the walls were adorned with pictures from regular drinkers, both past & present. The wear on the Formica countertops displayed the proof of how many pints it had held in its years. The windows were draped with tarten curtains blocking the cold & dark January night. There was no music…..just the song of broad Glaswegian voices enjoying their Friday night drink & putting the world to rights. It wasn’t long before we were chatting with the barman, and making friends with the locals. The Laurieston - it’s Just A Pub 😉

A gem of a place in the Laurieston area of the Gorbals, not many pubs survived the architectural genocide inflicted by GCC in the 60/70's....but this did....So, hats off to the Clancy's keeping a cracker of a boozer harking back to the above era and well worth a visit. Get yersel along there some night and soak in times gone by. Class in a glass.

Iconic institution with unchanged decor from the sixties. It’s cash only, family run and unpretentious. Limited selection of draught ales but it’s not the drink you come for here, it’s the atmosphere. It might look rough n ready but it’s welcoming and friendly and a glimpse into pubs before the huge corporations took over

Unfortunately, the Laurieston isn't the same pub that it once was. It's been overrun by hipsters, students and bar staff who are running the place into the ground – as a result, past regulars, including myself, are gradually being pushed out. The premises now looks dirty and past its sell-by date as opposed to what was a quirky retro bar run by competent owners who knew how to run a pub very well, whilst treating their customers with the utmost respect. The Laurieston has now fallen short of the mark in all these respects, and that is a travesty.

Even many of the things that made this pub quirky, such as the old fashioned towel dispenser in the toilets, are now out of operation.

I didn't really want to write this review but a once great pub has, again, fallen victim to unexperienced and poor management and is sadly falling...

A traditional, working class Glasgow pub. Judging by the prominence given to Guinness, I'd guess a Celtic scarf would go down better than a Rangers one, but horse-racing was showing on the TV and is probably of more interest here than football. It's a community place and there a photos of the locals on the walls. Quiet and homely, it was an effort to drag myself away. I could have got very comfortable. The cistern in the men's toilets is worth a look for those of us nostalgic for the days when smoking was compulsory. I haven't seen such a lovely patina for many years now. Not your typical drinking establishment more's the pity, and likely not to everybody's taste. But for we refugees from a happier age, it's balm...

First time in the lauriston having hearing nothing but great things but was left pretty disappointed.had to wait almost 30 mins to get served ok it was busy but that wasn't the issue the issue was the staff just decided to completely ignore me until we basically had to interrupt them to get there attention even then it was met with absolute disdain.the quality of the drinks on the other was great a cracking Guinness and also the decor and other pub regulars seemed genuinely great the only thing lacking was the attitude of the staff. Would possibly give another go if I'm in area as said previously the drinks were great just hope the trained there staff to be a bit more...
