We went here as a birthday celebration. I had booked the meal several weeks ago and had been to the restaurant to make the booking. As we were making the booking so early, the events manager said that we would be able to have the better situated table with the best view. We were given the Christmas and A La Carte menus to choose our meals from. The Christmas menu needed to be pre-ordered, but she said it would help if we all pre ordered if possible,.been therefore obliged and sent our choices in. A week or so before the meal, I was rung to be told that the A La Carte menu would be different on the night, so we could order from that on the night. On the evening we all arrived and were taken upstairs to our table, I noted it was not the table we had been promised although still had a view, just of the road instead of the gardens. The menu came and it was clear the Christmas menu had been incorporated into the A La Carte menu. I queried this with the waitress, as my 2 choices on the Christmas menu would cost me £35 whereas the same 2 choices on the A la Carte menu would cost me £30. They agreed to charge me the A la Carte prices. Our starters came, 3 of us had fàntastic starters, however one of our friends who ordered prawns literally had 5 prawns on her plate. The màin courses arrived, again 3 of us had àppropriately sized portions, whereas our other friend who had ordered the butternut squash had such a tiny portion on her plate. It was easily a third the size of ours, more like a starter. The cost of it was £17. We were so surprised we questioned it with the waiter who confirmed that was the whole portion. He did offer to add another portion onto the plate but our friend declined. In hindsight I think she should have done. The desserts came, they were great, and a good size. Meanwhile I ordered a Irish coffee. I hadn't ordered one before so wasn't sure what to expect. It arrived looking like a milky coffee, but when I tried it, although it tasted nice, it was completely cold. I asked the waitress whether they were supposed to be cold. She said no, and was surprised herself when she felt the cup. She took it away and returned with a replacement. It looked completely different in layers of amaretto, coffee and cream. I asked her if it was the same coffee as it was completely different in appearance to what I had received originally. She said yes, the bàr manager had made it. It was lovely and hot. Overall a disappointing meal, lovely in certain aspects but the tiny portion for our friend's starter and in particular the main spoiled the experience. I wouldn't go there again. What a shame. The waitress was...
Read moreMy husband had booked us a table at Neo for our wedding anniversary.
The lady who took us to our table was absolutely wonderful and wished us a congratulations.
The food its self was lovely. We had the prawn tempura to start along with some bread to share. And we then had a chateaubriand with peppercorn sauce, fries and a salad.
However what really disappointed us and Neo was the service. Our waiter barely gave us 5mins to sit down and read the menu before asking for our order. We asked for a few more minutes but it was 20 minutes until we saw him again and that was because we had to flag him down. That basically continued for the entire duration of the meal. We did look around the restaurant but being a Tuesday night it wasn't overly busy so our waiter wasn't rushed off his feet.
We had asked for salt and pepper for our fried but it was never brough over, he never checked how our meal was or even if we wanted more drinks. A lovely couple seated near us ordered 2 glasses of wine to go with their mains. The drinks arrived after the couple had finished the food and the dishes had been cleared away. It just isn't acceptable.
We very much felt forgotten about and to be honest it made our meal feel less like a special occasion. I feel like we would have had better service if we had gone to near by Miller and Carter.
We spent another 20 minutes waiting for our main plates to be cleared when another waitress came over and apologised. We received a dessert menu, but decided that we had enough and decided to return to our hotel for dessert
It is a real shame as the food is excellent but some of the waiting team are letting the rest of their...
Read moreAbsolutely delicious food and amazing service. I booked a table for my fiancés birthday and as soon as we walked in the welcome was warm and friendly, my fiancé was wished a Happy Birthday, we were then shown to our table where there was Birthday card… a very lovely touch. We had a glass of Prosecco each, orders a bottle of Pinot Grigio, which was fresh and crisp.
To start my fiancé had the Warm Asparagus and I had the Crab & Crayfish Cocktail… both were very tasty and a decent size. For mains, I had Deep Sea Monkfish and my fiancé had Halibut… both dishes were absolutely delicious, a big portion size with the loin of halibut being rather large and the same with the chunks of monkfish, we couldn’t fault either dish and would certainly have them any day of the week! We were a little greedy with dessert and had 3 to share as we couldn’t decide; Neo Chocolate Dome, Elderflower Crème Brûlée and the Blueberry & Lemon Cheesecake… all of which were divine, along with another Birthday touch from the restaurant… a chocolate sauce Happy Birthday plate.
We couldn’t fault the night at all and it was made all the better by our main waiter, Giuseppe, he was incredibly friendly and attentive, making sure everything was ok at each step of the way, perfect service.
The only ‘downside’, so to speak, was that they did not accept cash (no problem I always use Card) but the card machine didn’t seem to have a function to provide an additional tip for Giuseppe, which I...
