I booked the sushi making master class at the oishii restaurant (on the other side of 1812) as a surprise for my fiancés birthday. We arrived 10 minutes early and checked into the hotel reception area and was told that the restaurant wasn’t open/ready for us yet and was told we could enjoy a drink in 1812 while we waited. Upon trying to order a drink we were confronted by the rudest woman I’ve ever met in my life, who then proceeded to tell us she couldn’t serve us a drink because I was wearing shorts. Not only did she not apologise about this being the quite frankly ridiculous dress code rules, (it was mid afternoon and empty) she was looking down her nose at us the whole time and being straight up offensive about our appearance. When asked if we could have a drink outside we were told no, and in fact we weren’t even allowed to wait on the premises at all while the restaurant was setting up for us. She said we couldn’t even stand outside the building, and we would have to wait out on the road instead. Apparently, it’s fine to wear shorts about 20 feet further into the building to do the sushi class though. Unfortunately this experience ruined my fiancés birthday, and we didn’t even end up doing the sushi class because she was so upset. It’s just madness that this is the attitude towards two hard working people that chose to book an experience at this place to be treated in this fashion. We would have spent a lot of money on the sushi class and on drinks, but they care more about trying to be an elitist and judgemental establishment with no grace, courtesy, simple manners, or ability to compromise. The place was completely empty so I’m really not sure who we were offending. I felt bad for the sushi lady, because she was lovely.. just a shame that 1812 were so awful to us. Obviously they are doing well financially to turn away business like this… so great for them, but for us it was going to be a real special treat and the experience was awful. At no point we were told we had to dress a certain way during the booking process to even be allowed in the building. Ridiculous and pompous place with outdated rules and would never set foot in this place again. We were planning to see arrested development perform here soon as well but going to give that a...
Read moreWe visited the restaurant of 1812 for my hen do, when we arrived, we were left for 40 minutes before we even had a drinks order taken, and that was only because we managed to get a waitress to come over! We were never just approached!! There was only 9 of us, so it wasn’t like it was we were a huge group, but it took a further 20 minutes to get our drinks (we were having soft drinks for us non drinkers and wine for the drinkers, so nothing hard to sort!!!) We placed the order for our food, and I had specifically asked for vegan cheese, as I am lactose intolerant, when our food was brought out in dribs and drabs, they called out the vegetarian calzone and I asked if it was with vegan cheese and I was told yes, so carried on eating it. I questioned it mid way through, as the cheese was very stringy, and I’m not used to stringy vegan cheese, but got told again that it was vegan!! Not long after I finished it, I had to rush to the bathroom as I was about to be sick, the cheese they had used was standard dairy cheese!! When we first approached the manager she just kept telling us it was our fault, and that we had accepted the wrong order even though I had told that I had specifically asked the waitress when she’d handed it over, if it was with vegan cheese and I was told it was!! The manager called over the waitress who agreed she had done as I’d said, and she had been informed that it was vegan!! I spent the rest of my hen do feeling ill, and have been sick several times since, and feel very weak now, to the point we had to cancel today’s plans!! I’m nearly 24 hours on and still not well!!!! This could have been a lot more serious if someone had a severe allergy!!! We were given the meal for free, but this hasn’t not made things anything better for myself!! They ruined my hen do, and for that I will never return, and advise any one with allergies, to never use them!!! They were extremely rude to us, to top...
Read moreWe purchased new years eve tickets weeks befor the event. On the day when we arrived before 11am. We have shoked to see there was not a single person ask us or anybody about any tickets. We upset because after we paid nearly £140 for entry tickets, we expect to get our tickets chacked and get a champagne. But insted of that we were see peple walked in with out tickets like you walk in a tesco supermarket! Incluse our friends who confirmed to is thay not bought any tickets thats was around 11pm.
I ask for manager at hotel reception to complain and i get 2 mail address where i can complain. I write an email on both emails but there was no reaction from them. Than i wrote a second email whete i point out if thay not respons and give us a refund i will contact the trading standerds for a formal complain. Eventualy i get a reply message where the hotel manager denied the fact there was no access contor by the entrance and refuse to give us a refund. We contact the trading standards now and waiting for help. The hotel managment just disgustingly misled people to get more money online for nothing. Why sould we pay a penny if anyone who not paid for tickets can enjoy the same event ? The only thing what was include the price was a glass of shampagne and the live music, but we not even get thatone because the place was short of stuff and aftet 30min wait by the bar we just give up to get any drinks.
The managment offered us a coctail for compensation... well i dont have to say where can thay put that drink... £140 is a bit redicolous for a few coctails!
Enyone with the same experience please contact the hotel managment and if thay faild to give you a refund just report them to trading standards. Because this...
