The food we ordered was lovely, have no complaints there, had the ceviche which was less citrusy and drier than I was expecting but it was really nice, the sea bass was full of flavour and the cod was nice and meaty. However, we were first given a little soup appetiser, my mother in law had a chunk of plastic in hers that she almost swallowed, it was pointed out to a waiter (no fuss made by us) and the waiter said sorry about that and we heard nothing more of it. I think I was expecting that they would perhaps make a slightly bigger fuss about it, maybe they would have if we were the sort to make a song and dance out of it, I don’t know what I was expecting but I think some sort of gesture would have been appropriate, my partner didn’t have hers as she was put off by plastic being in her mum’s. The tables were sticky, I think it is most likely the actual texture of the table but it was a bit off putting. We waited on average 20 minutes for each drink order, had to wait 30 minutes for water after my father in law said he was really thirsty, asked twice. Drinks came out wrong and had to wait again. Had to wait for a fair while for table to be cleared after main course and for dessert to be ordered, then about another half hour for desserts to come out, the restaurant was less than half full at this time. It was really slow, regretted ordering dessert as it took so long. The women’s bathroom according to my partner, is carpeted, she said it was a gross feature, the men’s bathroom wasn’t in a great state, toilets were a mess. They also told me when I called them on the hottest day of the year that although shorts were allowed, it was to be smart dress, turn up and people in flip-flops and swimming shorts, why tell me it’s smart when the place is full of people in casual? Luckily I wore shorts anyway because it was too hot to worry about dress-code, but it was a bit annoying being told that when it clearly wasn’t true (I got there 20 mins after phone call). The negatives left it as a bit of a middling experience, decent food, long waits, plastic in food, dirty bathroom, probably wouldn’t bother again as it’s not quite matching the...
Read moreGutted! We thought let's go for some great local seafood & service..... We walked in, smelled really good, that's where the good stops I'm sad to say.
We ordered a seafood platter expensive (££££, but that's fine if great). With a restaurant by the sea, it should be no problem and amazing, but this was SO DISAPPOINTING!!
When it came out there was what looked like a lovely nice big CRAB (as you would expect from a restaurant called the CRAB) However, on flipping the huge shell over it was empty! lol, on asking they said: ''errr it's just decoration'' I questioned that, & they looked at me as if I was stupid ''There is a crab on the dish sir, you have two claws'' The irony for a restaurant called the crab, & their most expensive dish(I think), all was overcooked & just sad TBH. The oysters were small & had also clearly put in shells that were not their own to look better too! However, we didn't moan more as wanted a nice night Next: The mussels, this is where it really went downhill... They were well overcooked, rubbery, flat & SMELLED genuinely of cowpat...... We called the waiter over & asked him to smell them, his face screwed up at the smell & he gave us an embarrassed look, to his credit took them straight back.....this is where the service drops badly, now a separate waiter is sent out to ask us again, what was wrong with our mussels. We explained, we already told the last waiter & they were very aware of the smell.....as if we were mistaken, the manager (we think) came over & asked, again, accusingly what was up...we were now starting to feel badgered like were doing something wrong, explained we had bad mussels & the 1st waiter knew & took them in, but a 2nd came out to ask us what was up, & now you are also.....I was then told ''we get fresh daily if you don't like fresh mussels......'', lol any other day I might have just walked out-but it was almost comical I asked did you even check them before coming over..... the lie was...
Read moreWe stayed in the hotel above the restaurant in may 2019. We were tempted by the hotel restaurant and we went for a dinner there. Ordered seafood platter, some other dishes and bottle of wine. Not a cheap place so bill was quite high. Seafood meal included mussels and nearly at the end of the meal one of us discovered rotten mussel. Staff in the restaurant denied anything being wrong and told us that's just a mud. (If that was it would mean that in the best case there was not an mussle which was off just a mussle full of rotten "mud" served in a soup we all eat). We paid for a meal and were discounted only for mussels (not even for a seefood platter which mussels were a part off). Discounted dish was written on the bill as "mussels surprise". Which I trust suppose to be funny. We all rushed to our rooms to make ourself sick as we were worried we will get a food poisoning. One of us landed up in the hospital that night due to getting skin reaction (possibly due to trying to be sick). We had to cut our weekend short because we were treated from that time on as "Problematic guests". We paid full price for a hotel of course. Hotel manager was not in, so we were promissed to be contacted in a week time. The manager suppose to contact us to discuss the issue. It took awhile and few calls to get in contact with a manager. But after brief emails in which restaurant/hotel denied any of their fault for a poor experience, all communication from hotel stopped. I've sent another 2 emails. No reply. So overall very poor experience. Not recommending to anyone. This photo is an actual photo of what we found in the pot of mussels (taken quickly before staff rushed to take the...
