A Wrap? More Like a Trap.

Visited Rico’s in York and ordered a chicken wrap meal. It was cooked so quickly I thought they’d just waved it near a microwave and called it a day. Something felt off from the first bite — and oh boy, was I right.

Within hours, my digestive system launched a full-scale rebellion. I’ve spent more time on the toilet than sightseeing. I came to York to explore the history — not to leave a skid mark on it.

Let me paint a picture: in just two days, I’ve cycled through seven pairs of underpants, each one a casualty of war. My “fart box” is now a “war zone,” and tactical toilet deployment has become my reality. Blisters where no man should have blisters. I no longer pass gas — I negotiate with it.

But seriously — this was no laughing matter at the time (though I laugh now to cope). That chicken was definitely not cooked properly, and I wouldn’t wish this two-day “toilet tour” on my worst enemy.

Hands down, this is the best little shop for quick bites—an absolute gem! The lady running the place was incredibly kind and had the warmest smile. She seemed to have a sixth sense for hungry customers and was more than happy to dish out an extra piece or two, depending on how many mouths she saw to feed.

I popped in with my wife and we ordered three pieces. To my great relief (and to avoid what could’ve been a full-blown diplomatic dispute), she gave us four! That extra piece saved our marriage—no need for rock-paper-scissors or secret bites when the other wasn’t looking.

Seriously good piri piri and fries! I've had this place on my radar for months now, but I hadn't ordered because I'm so used to being disappointed by takeaway delivered; not with this place. Food was hot and ready to go, though I put stuff in the oven for a minute or two while microwaving bowls to eat out of.

Contrary to what other reviews have said, the 'very hot' is very hot. Be aware! It was like being back in Portugal. Highly recommend this place. :) It's definitely my go-to takeaway now, especially after a good day of hard work!

p.s having read some other reviews, please don't stop using thermal bags! They are by far the best option for keeping grilled...
