The Rock, Brighton – A Wet but Wonderful Night Out
Visited The Rock in Brighton last Friday with a few mates, and let me tell you — what a cracking little gem of a pub this is! From the moment you walk in, it feels like your nan’s front room. Cosy lighting, a friendly buzz, and walls decked with stunning artwork that’s actually for sale (dangerous after a few pints — I nearly left with a painting and no rent money).
The staff were all smiles and good vibes… though one barmaid perhaps a little too enthusiastic with her wine service. One moment I was chatting away, the next I was marinated in a full large glass of white. My jeans, top, and let’s just say… personal regions were absolutely drenched. Only packed one pair for the weekend too — so I spent the night looking like I’d lost a water balloon fight.
To her credit, she was mortified, offered apologies galore, and even gave me a discount without me uttering a word. I even found myself helping mop the bar — teamwork at its finest!
All in all, despite my unexpected wine bath, The Rock rocks. Great atmosphere, friendly staff, and well worth a visit — maybe just wear waterproof trousers...

What a lovely place, was good before but now it's a wow! New owners have fixed loads of the building and the decor is beautiful, all the locals have come back and it's ace. Can't recommend enough. Currently no food but It's coming. An easy nice place to hang out.
5 months later this pub is still great and now there is some food! Wonderful home made pasties, and extremely delicious and very convincing "Steak" and Guinness which is totally vegan, I was shocked as a meat eater that it wasn't real meat, something that could could turn me vegan! Also tried the actual chicken tikka pasty and that is another instant hit with me. The pasties are served hot from a warmer on the bar but they haven't been sitting there for hours, they are freshly made throughout the day and always very fresh. These guys have nailed perfection...
Read moreA fantastic dog friendly pub in Kemptown. The owners and bar staff were so warm and welcoming. The pub has charm and character, with local artwork on display and lots of original features retained to give a modern and comfortable vibe. The pub and toilets were spotlessly clean. They offer 'Rock Inn Rolls' in terms of food, which is a nice 'proper pub' snack offering. There was a huge choice of beers and ciders, with a lot of local options. Wine list looked great too. Ales were crystal clear and the owners obviously take great care in delivering a great product. Locals were really friendly and there was a nice atmosphere, people chatting and being social - what a pub should be. Its just a short walk from the local camp site where we were staying and we shall definitely return to this spot and recommend to others. I wish we...
