Originally phoned to book the Port-na-Craig Inn & Restaurant. Drove 40 minutes to be told the kitchen was closed!!! Turned out to be a stroke of luck because we ended up here at the Bridge instead.
Everything about this restaurant is superb. The staff are friendly and attentive, the facilities are immaculately clean and the food is just amazing.
We both went for a scotch egg starter which was fantastic. Crispy meaty coating around a perfectly cooked egg on a base of homemade coleslaw and fresh salad.
For the main we both had the highly recommended steak pie. Those who say it's the best pie they've ever had were not exaggerating. Sat on a bed of creamy mash accompanied by sweet carrots, tender broccoli and perfectly al-dente cauliflower the pie really was that good. Perfectly short pastry with tender steak full of flavour, it was perfect. The hype does not do it justice.
We were both pushing full, but the sticky toffee pudding and creme brulee were just too tempting. Again, they exceeded our already high expectations. The creme brulee had a crunchy bitter sweet caramelised sugar topping over a creamy custard base. It was as good as it gets. The sticky toffee pudding was simply to die for. The sauce was perfect, the pudding sticky and a scoop of rich vanilla ice cream.
If I lived in Perth I would make the trip to eat here on a regular basis, from London it's just a tad too far but if you're anywhere near here,...
Read moreExcellent all around! The food, drinks, and staff were top notch! This is a family owned business located in the cute town of Pitlochry, Scotland. We were staying across the way at Fonab Castle Hotel so it was about a 15 minute walk but they appeared to have ample parking if you are driving there. One of the first things I noticed about this restaurant is that they truly are passionate about their customers having a great experience! They work together as a team and make sure everything is good. I requested a cocktail menu and the sweet lady taking my order (and who runs the place along with her chef husband and their other mates), Andreea, became so excited and stated that they are rolling out a brand new cocktail menu next week so I would be the first customer to view it and to try one of the creations. I tried the passionfruit martini which was very similar to a “pornstar martini” and it was very good! I had the soup of the day which was a mixed veggies soup as well as the carbonara with gambas (shrimp) (the shrimp addition was not on the menu but they made it happen and it was great!). Then, we had the crème brûlée and that was delish too! I would highly recommend this restaurant whether you are a local, staying in town, or passing through! We will definitely visit again next time we are...
Read moreBooked a table for 6.30pm midweek for a birthday meal. We had high expectations having read the good reviews. We ended up being very very disappointed. On arrival a pleasant young man asked us to choose any table which we appreciated. My meal was OK. My friend chose steak pie. It was inedible. The pastry was over cooked and tough on the top, bottom and all round. The mash potato and limited carrot and swede were not hot. It didn't look appetising and presentation was poor. He left the meal. We decided to have a desert. After waiting over 35 minutes with the desert menu no one came to take our order. We decided to pay the bill and leave. The young lady apologised and said that they were short staffed. She offered to reduce the bill even though we hadn't asked. The price of the steak pie was deducted from the bill. Money wasn't the issue we wanted a nice birthday experience which sadly we didn't get. Maybe we were just very very unlucky that evening. The building is nice, restaurant is nice, young lady and gentleman nice, however meal and service very disappointing. Sadly we...
