We came today at around 12:30pm it wasn’t too busy but started to pick up as we was leaving about an hour later I’ll start with the cleanliness of the building - not a cobweb or speck of dust in site and the toilets smelt like cleaning products which shows the establishment is well looked after.
Staff - hats off to the staff they was smiling, friendly and very professional. One member of staff stood out to us straight away and that was the gentleman with the dark hair that served us our carvery, as we didn’t even need to speak he greeted us, told us what meat selection they had and even made us aware that the handles was hot on the carvery. He then had a laugh and a conversation with us he was so professional so friendly and just really left a great impression on how the staff are at Mission.
The food - We was soooooo impressed with the food, we each got a carvery I got pork, my mother in law got turkey and my partner got beef so we could all try a different meat, we got all the veg and Yorkshires with it and it was beautiful one of the best carveries I’ve had in a long time my favourite had to be their roasties!!!! And they had a choice of normal gravy or onion gravy which I was super impressed with because it’s not something you always see.
Payment - We payed a total of £38.50 which got us 3 carveries at £9.95per person, 2 Pepsi max’s and a pineapple juice which I think is amazing...
Read moreI'd heard great things about the food previously so popped for lunch and was really disappointed. Asking for a simple switch of one part of the meal (chips instead of mash) took over 5 minutes to check with the chef and was told it meant we couldn't have the yorkshire pudding or peas so ordered something else. The drinks tasted like really cheap cola. It was quite a wait for 2 sandwiches and 2 toasties that we'd ended up ordering. We said we didn't order bbq chicken and bacon baguette but it was served anyway. I pointed out the menu said chicken and bacon with no mention of bbq and the girl said 'I just asked the chef and...' shrugging her shoulders and stopping talking. There was also coleslaw missing but there seemed little point in mentioning this. There was more focus on the staff having a laugh in the back than any level of customer service or rectifying mistakes with lots of screaming, laughing and singing from staff. It's sad to see because this pub used to be amazing. I wouldn't recommend it despite what food did arrive being ok, the customer service massively let's...
Read moreGreat old historic building, but very cold inside today & so was the food, carrots & sprouts not cooked fully. Guy on the carvery wasn't very friendly to me & hubby, but was to our younger daughter. Staff didn't know what a white wine spritzer was, although she was lovely lass. We got our carvery meal at around 1.30 & it finishes at 2.30, so you would think the food would be cooked through enough. Sprouts I think were frozen as they were cold & hard in the middle, same with the carrots. Meat was delicious though & nice & quiet to be able to talk without music blasting in your ear. We will give it another try! Do think they need more staff on the bar though for Sunday carvery & not frozen produce! Washroom had no working hand air dryer & only one soap dispenser, for a place this size. It should have soap dispensers at every basin & all full! Also, you can't sit in the old chapel now for...
