Wanted to share my experience as I’ve been seeing so many good reviews online prior to my first time and honestly was not impressed. Not sure why it has good reviews maybe people just have low standards it seems. I’d like to start off by saying the first thing I noticed going in was a hanging star decoration when opening the door that was so unnecessarily there which was an obstruction and the front door was smashed like it’s a crack house.
I had noticed there were so many smudges on the mirrors and the doors for the private rooms where you can sit down. We were literally the first customers in and the place did not look clean so that was a bad impression. Also felt icky touching the tablet where we had to look at the menu on.. not sure anything was clean even the seat I sat on had stains. I had to go and wash my hands after touching it and went to the bathroom and oh my one of the worst restaurant bathrooms I’ve been to not to say it’s outdated but more worried about the cleanliness. The staff have so much time to stand behind a bar and make one milkshake for ages but not help the business grow buy doing a bit of cleaning or hiring someone to make the restaurant look better. This is definitely some feedback you may have to take on.
Secondly, a delivery driver came in I believe to drop off ingredients walking through the entire restaurant whilst we were eating and used a fire extinguisher as a door stopper for the entire time even after he had left which is health and safety 101.
When we had got our lamb mandi, we got four pieces and two of them were fat with NO meat at all on them. My dad had to complain considering we we’re paying nearly £30 for it. Really disappointing.
Also, I was asking the server for recommendations on drinks because all the drinks had fancy names with no descriptions of what was included in the drinks which is bizarre? Meaning you would have to explain this to customers every single time and I asked about the crimson chill and settled on that when she said it’s pomegranate and I thought oh nice I like pomegranate. When I had received the drink it had a garnish of chilli.. had a sip and it had a kick to it? Would you not think to mention this to the customers as chilli is an unusual choice for a mocktail.. she failed to mention this to me and I left the rest of the drink what a waste of money. Just to add, we received our drinks 10-15 minutes after our FOOD had arrived. My “chilli” drink arrived first and they were still making the mango milkshake when we had nearly finished eating like what on earth we were the first customers and only people there not like they were so busy? 😂 were they making it in mars? The two girls front of house were very slow.
Lastly, I think the only thing we actually enjoyed was the complimentary soup but overall experience not so great, not sure what the hype was about and won’t...
Read moreI normally don't write bad reviews but this was a really bad experience for me and my family. We booked a table for 7:30 for 7 people. The service was absolutely terrible. Its took a whole one hour and a half for the starters to come of which it actually ended coming out with the mains. They completely had forgotten about the drinks we had ordered and had to ask several times to bring the drinks we ordered which were just cans of coke so was baffled as to why it took so long.
The hummus did not taste as fresh as it should have. Upon leaving I had asked for containers to pack the food away and this took an additional 20 minutes just to get the containers!!! Honestly there was no excuse at all for the really poor service, the resturant was not busy enough for the service to be this bad. It is unfortunate because when I first went here on the day of the opening there was nothing to complain about but seems like its just gone downhill.
The kabsa was ok. I have had better. The chicken was a little dry. They ran out of lamb kabsa so couldn't try that.
The soup was lovely though very tasty. When i asked for the bill that also took another 10/15 mins. We arrived at 7:30 pm and left at 10:30 pm, and this wasn't because we were chit chatting but because the service...
Read moreIf you're in Leicester and craving authentic Arabic cuisine, Zaith&Zathar is a must-visit! From the moment you step inside, the ambiance transports you to the heart of the Middle East, with its warm, inviting atmosphere that perfectly complements the delicious food. We had the Lamb Zurbian and Chicken Kabsa, and both dishes were absolutely top-notch. The lamb was incredibly tender and bursting with flavor, while the chicken Kabsa was a true delight. Every bite was a testament to the quality and authenticity of the food.
The real standout, however, was the impeccable customer service. The staff, led by the manager, made us feel like part of the family with their genuine warmth and politeness. It's rare to find such exceptional service that truly enhances your dining experience.
As a foodie, I can say this was an unforgettable experience. Zaith&Zathar serves what might just be the best Manthi in Leicester – if not the Midlands! We highly recommend this gem to anyone seeking an authentic taste of Arabic cuisine. We will certainly be back and wish the team all the best in continuing to uphold their high standards. This place has won our hearts – both our stomachs and...
