What a wonderful place.! Found it on Google, figured we'd give it a try, and I'm very glad we did.! Very accommodating, we tried our luck by turning up without booking, managed to get us a table very quickly, staff were polite, knowledgeable, and very friendly, I had the texas combo with a fatboy, and damn.! It was amazing.! The wedges were huge and perfect, the fatboy just melted in the mouth, and the chicken was fantastic.! Also, hands down the best garlic bread I've had in a very long time.! Now, I know I've given it 4 stars, but there were a couple of small issues, that prevent me from giving a full 5. I had a coffee milkshake, and whilst it was extremely good, I believe it to be overpriced for the amount you get, and the chairs for the table needed to be more comfortable. Otherwise, a definite 4.8 out of 5, and would happily return and spend more time feeling fat and very happy.!

I really wanted to love this place, it was a birthday treat meal from my partner but unfortunately apart from a lovely lady that served us and fun Americana style decor everything else was a disaster. First l would like to say that we came in, chefs were sitting at one of the tables in the main dining room scrolling trough their phones, yawning and ignoring us completely, after some minutes a lovely lady popped her head and showed us to a table. We ordered the food and observed the lady asking if the two afromentioned chefs could go and cook it for us, they both looked extremely unamused and l didn't like the attitude of neither. Food came out very quickly and apart from the quality of meat and frozen fries which was decent everything else was disgusting, bun was cold and stale, cheese on the cheeseburger was cold and solid, coleslaw was just fatty and had no flavour, onion rings reeked of old oil and were inedible. Both of the chefs came back and continued to yawn into their phones in the main dining room which completly killed any residual atmosphere this place could have had. It was a very bad experience that gave me indigestion and made me feel uncomfortable. I understand that working in restaurant buisness can be tough but honestly, l don't want to pay £60 to look at bored staff frustrated to be at work serving substandard food without any love nor attention to detail. This is not a place where cooks take any pride in what they are doing, they just want you to eat and go asap, as l mentioned above the food made me unwell, this was my first and simultaneously last ever visit to this place. Extremely Dissapointed.

Absolutely gutted was the 2nd worst meal I had in there in all the years I've been going the chicken wings had no chicken the sauce was non existent I asked for more and was given a pot with all I can describe as orange oil Where's the actual hot sauce having been to America a few times where they make the best hot wings yankee traveller came pretty close well that was untill the new owners arrived I had a meal when they 1st took over didn't critic as everyone has to adapt . I asked if they had changed chefs and was told they haven't obviously pay check has changed or food supplier is different as the food was nothing like it used to be I looked around to see alot of disappointed faces and people saying the same thing to each other but was being polite to the waitresses when asked if everything was ok, my partner had asked for a medium steak he got a medium to well done steak.. With a plate full of fries and 5 tiny bits of scampi. I defo won't be going to back again as it was a waste of money ! Waitresses was friendly. Missed the other staff though.. This is how hot wings should look (a plate from a different restaurant) such a shame

PUT A GROWN UP IN CHARGE! We visited this evening and no one appeared to be in charge or supervising. Two teenage waiting staff who spent too much time away from the tables and a couple of young chefs. Under the previous owners, there was always a supervisor/manager controling the room, the staff and the customers. This is sadly now not the case. Service was too slow - our table was 6.30 and we left at 8.10 and we only had a main course. We waited for menus for desserts but they left it too long so we asked for the bill. The food hasnt changed under the new owners still with massive portions. In the time of food poverty and ridiculous food waste, portions need to be smaller. I sent back a large amount of food I couldnt eat (salad and chips). One of our party took half home in a box. Big mistake selling off the bar area and blocking it off as that created much of the atmosphere that sadly, Yankee Traveller now lacks.

DO NOT JUDGE A BOOK BY ITS COVER!!!! My first time in Great Yarmouth and me and partner googled places to eat. After seeing reviews we decided here (this is not on the see front). Walking to the restaurant did not fill me with confidence as most of the places on the street were run down, boarded up or closed. Upon arrival a very polite young girl served us and you could tell she was on here own bless working her socks off. Food was as expected and yes the portion sizes are huge (go there with an empty stomach). Would definitely recommend and will visit again when back. Can't help but think how well this place would do had it been on the sea front but then again that would take away the hideaway secret it is. Keep up the good work!!
