Costa Coffee — Restaurant in Guildford

I have never left a review before but for this case I felt like I HAD to. The Ladymead location of costa has some serious upper management issues. The staff themselves are amazing, they seem to go above and beyond for every customer and despite being under so much stress they do everything whilst staying as positive as they can. They can make a very nice flat white as well which is what i had, a lot nicer than the other costas I have visited. However, who I assume to be, the manager as he wasn’t wearing a full apron like the other baristas, seems like an incredibly arrogant and horrible person to work under. I witnessed him genuinely shout at the top of his lungs at a poor female member of staff today to leave a coffee grinder on or something like that and he continued to belittle her in front of the entire store. Not the sort of person I would want to be doing business with if I’m being honest. I’m not sure if anybody from higher up will see this but the store needs a manager who actually treats their staff nicely AND knows what they’re doing because I have never seen one that can do both. Not sure I’ll ever stop by this store again as it just isn’t a nice environment to be in despite the lovely staff. They deserve better....

We arrived with our pup. It took them 20 minutes to make two coffees for us because they were preoccupied chit-chatting with children and each other. We sat down, were halfway through our drinks (at this point 40 minutes passed since we walked in), and they noticed that our puppy was very peacefully just lying on the floor, sleeping. They immediately burped at us from the counter that dogs aren't allowed in that shop because they sell food - even though we've been to Starbucks and Pret who also sell food -, so our dog isn't welcome in the shop.

This was, naturally, handled very unprofessionally once again, as instead of coming up to us, they shouted to us all the way from the counter with the shop floor being full of customers.

Honestly, if they would have handled it differently, this wouldn't be such a bad review. Our puppy was causing absolutely no disruption, as she's well-behaved, and she was just snoozing peacefully after a tiring day. None of us deserved to be...
