We had a birthday party here for 15 people and got offered the pre-theatre menu which seemed reasonably priced at £20 for a 3 course meal. You get to choose from meat, fish or veggie.
We put our orders on ahead of getting there and once we arrived the waiting staff seemed overwhelmed. They were bringing food over before asking for drinks and when asked if we can get a drink we got met with a hostile "your food will get cold! I need to bring your food out first"
For the starters, the Prawns smelled odd and were clearly frozen and mushy to taste. The aubergine had a flavourless taste covered in bland batter.
The mains, The steak was rubbery and hard to chew, Main fish seemed ok.
Dessert, apple pie with custard or cream. The custard came out 25 mins after the pie and the cream was frozen!!! I have never heard of frozen cream with apple pie. It didn't even melt and you couldn't cut through it without it wanted to fly off the plate.
Breakfast is a joke too at £17.50. My friend found a hair in his food, the meat looked anaemic and the eggs looked a mess.
Asking the staff for something that wasn't at the table was either out of the question or a chore, Like butter or sauce. A lot of huffing and puffing and general rudeness. The staff are lacking customer service and...
Read moreJaz festival was on while there for afternoon tea. So loud we couldn't have a conversation. Had to wait for the breaks to talk. For what we got it was overpriced. Was celebrating my mum's birthday, totally disappointed with the food offered. They never told us when we booked a table for 7 people that a jaz festival was on & we'd be sitting by the path where the wet towels & guest to the spa would enter & exit. So no conversation possible, trollies of wet towels, limited cakes as they ran out & a bill including service charge (which we didn't pay). Not a great experience at all. At least my mum enjoyed herself with her family having a good old moan about the experience. Gave her something to tell her friends about & she won't forget this birthday treat. We had to moan after as we couldn't moan during as we couldn't...
Read morePopped in for a drink early Sunday evening and sat in the main bar area at the front, on a comfy sofa. It had a nice busy buzz to it but it wasn't noisy. The guy who served us was attentive and professional (wish I'd taken his name). My friend wanted a particular tea and he made genuine efforts to find it. When he couldn't find it, he was apologetic and keen to make sure my friend had a suitable alternative. That could be deemed basic service but there have been numerous occasions when that kind of effort hasn't been made. It was very much appreciated. Thank you again...
