Esquires Coffee St Neots — Restaurant in Huntingdonshire

We've been here before and thought it was good so a return visit was in order. We were with friends and they placed their order and we were immediately after them in the queue. Our order was two identical meals with identical coffees. We waited for our drinks and all four of us got what we'd ordered. One of our friends received their meal and it was correct (eggs Benedict) but she thought the ham was really chewy. We continued to wait and then our other friend's meal arrived, but the order had sourdough not white toast as ordered. It went back and returned a few minutes later with the right white toast.our friends finished their meals and then part of one of our meals arrived: scrambled eggs on sourdough with beans, but there were no beans and the cutlery provided had food on it. On asking the cashier, were told the beans were on the way. Clean cutlery was delivered, but only after one of us went in search for for it. A second check on bean progress and an enquiry about the second lot of scrambled eggs on sourdough with beans was again met with the reply 'two minutes' from the cashier. My scrambled egg with beans on sourdough finally arrived with two lots of bean, but no cutlery which required another request. The food was nice, but it would have been far better if our friends had been able to eat at a similar time and we had received our meals in one drop rather than over the course of ten minutes. My husband ate slowly in the hope that his beans would arrive while he was eating the eggs and toast, but it wasn't to be. Given that my four visits to the cashier were treated with little sympathy, I didn't see any point in a follow up visit. Disappointed after reading all the positive reviews. I guess I came in on an off day. Very austere atmosphere. Limited vegan options. I asked for a vegan breakfast bap and was told the only vegan option was a vegan steak bake. I found the staff to be rather offish and not welcoming or helpful at all. I had a black decaf americano. Which was fine for £3. The place is clean and tidy and the food display did look well presented but not dietary inclusive at all. Gluten free and vegan are not interchangeable, so some education...

Looks the part and they seem to have a good range of pastry’s, Coffe and teas.

Can only review based on my first visit today, got one of their breakfast items.

Came to over £16 with a tea which was on the pricier side of things, food was nice but it was missing an extra poached egg I paid for and the smashed avocado was lightly spread on the bread. For the price I would expect more, I’m sure the Coffe is amazing as this is what this place looks like they specialise in but I can only rate on my experience.
