Market Café & Restaurant — Restaurant in Huntingdonshire

I ordered a breakfast on Sunday as I had just moved into my new house and hadn't yet had time to do a food shop. After almost two hours from ordering, and over an hour of trying to call I eventually got through to someone who advised they had cancelled my order 30 minutes after it was placed as they were 'too busy'. Nobody had the courtesy to tell me this, and the person on the phone couldn't have sounded less apologetic if they tried, and made no attempt to try and rectify.

Just to make this whole situation worse, I was promised after double checking with them twice that my card had definitely been refunded, to which I was promised it had. Working in finance myself and refunding card payments daily, I know that if an order is cancelled the same day, the money should show as pending and then never come out. However, after checking my bank statement this morning this has come out of my bank account and surprisingly they are not answering their phone yet again.

Do not use their local app to order food from, and I would generally avoid ordering anything from them unless you want a complete headache. This is a shame, as the service here used to be brilliant.

Please could someone from the Cafe contact me today, or ensure my money is refunded to rectify this ASAP. Otherwise I will be looking to take...

Went to get some brunch today with friends. When we arrived there were only a couple of other tables full and we had noted that they three orders ahead of us for delivery. After we had ordered and were sat waiting it started to get busy. Sat waiting for our food for AT LEAST half an hour but understood it was busy. This was until others than came in 10 minutes after we ordered started getting their food first. Also completely forgot about one of our drinks until it was mentioned. When received drink the mug smelt like it had been washed with a damp dish cloth which was very off putting. Food was decent and tasted good but two of us ordered a hot chocolate, a canned drink, two bacon and sausage baguettes and a bowl of chips which came to £15, which didn't feel worth the money. The service is very poor. As soon as I sat down at the terrace, someone came and partially cleaned the table with a cloth without even saying hello. You have to order at the counter, which was done, only to have to wait over 30 minutes to get the very basic food: burger and ciabatta sandwich with chips. Other customers, who arrived later, got their orders before us (smoothies). When I asked something to the server, she wasn't nice, as one would expect from a server. And the food isn't even cheap or abundant. The ciabatta was han, chicken and cheese, and the chicken was diced, I reckon there was less than half a chicken breast on it.
