Visited this new Thai and Japanese restaurants on the very cold and snowy Sunday eve just passed, we were not disappointed. We had a very enjoyable experience indeed!!!
First impressions were good, the decor and ambience is relaxing and stylish and it was warm and cosy after being out in the snow. We were welcomed by a lovely young lady who quickly got us seated and watered while we checked out the menu.
The staff were great, all credit to them as we have had some meals in Hudds where the staff have been miserable looking and unwilling to advise on the menu....Well not here!! The two young members of staff who looked after us were smiley, friendly, knowledgeable about the food and checked back that we were happy with our dishes without being too intrusive. Perfect service for me, other places could learn a lot from them. We also had the pleasure of speaking to the lady who is the one half of the couple who are owner/managers. She was very nice to speak to and being so happy with the experience I wish them all the success they deserve as this is a restaurant that's doing things right.
So, the important bit - the food!! We had 2 starters and shared between us, fish cakes and goyza dumplings. See pics. Oh, complimentary Thai crackers came while we chose off menu too - always a nice touch and my fave snack!), they came with a coulorful tasty garnish and dipping sauce. Fresh cooked and very tasty. Quality was high so we were well looking forward to our mains, we were asked if we wanted them straight away, or did we want a break? Nice touch. This is a well run establishment with well trained staff. All food was served with a smile and the staff seem to genuinely care that your happy with everything. Our mains were just as good as the starters, hot fresh flavoursome food that feels.both healthy and filling. Just what the doctor ordered after walking round cold old Hudds on a winters day! Forgive me I can't remember the names of the mains, but they were delicious. I couldn't find any faults at all.
My main was a buckwheat noodle/beef/Vedg stir fry type dish. I've eaten many stir fry in many places and the beef can sometimes be a bit tough and gristley. It's a good indicator of quality when the beef is good. I've got to say the beef was melt in the mouth!! Excellent,.no chewy lumps here!! my friend had a seafood upon noodle dish that looked amazing, I didn't taste much as I'm not a seafood lover, but the tempura prawns topping it looked good.
I know I'm raving on here, so no - I'm not affiliated with the place or been paid to say this lol....I'm.just a big foodie who eats out and reviews a lot and I'm more than happy to give credit where credit is due. Everything about our visit was perfect and I will look forward to returning. Maybe try the sushi next time (it looked fantastic, another table were...
Read moreMy partner and I visited TJ Thai & Japanese Restaurant for dinner without a reservation, and we were pleasantly surprised by how well the staff handled our walk-in. The team at the reception was incredibly polite, friendly, and professional. After checking their booking schedule, they informed us that they had a table available for us, but it was reserved for two hours later. They kindly let us know about the time constraint upfront, which we appreciated. Given that two hours was more than enough for our meal, we happily accepted the offer. This level of care, especially without a reservation, was impressive and much appreciated.
Once inside, we were struck by the beautiful interior. The Asian-inspired decor and ambiance really set the mood for a great dining experience.
The service continued to impress us throughout the evening. When my partner couldn’t decide on a dish, our server took the time to ask about her preferences rather than just suggesting a random item from the menu. This personalized approach made us feel well taken care of.
As for the food—simply amazing! The portions were generous, and every dish was delicious. Another detail that stood out was the attentive service; without us having to ask, our water glasses were refilled whenever they were empty. It’s those small touches that really elevate the experience.
We had some leftovers, and the staff was more than happy to provide takeout boxes for us to bring the food home.
While the prices were a bit on the higher side, the quality of service and food made it worth every penny. I’ve given this place 5 stars and would highly recommend it. Thank you to the team for a wonderful evening—keep up...
Read moreI visited with my friends this evening. We had booked a table beforehand and turned up right on time. I am sorry to say that I was very disappointed this visit. Customer service left much to be desired - we were rushed to order our drinks and meals. Because only two of our party were wanting starters they had to come together with our mains. Which personally over-faced me as I couldn’t eat everything at once and so I sadly I left a lot of my meal. Which is a shame as the food I did eat was delicious. We had two hours for our table and left with 40mins to spare. Unfortunately I don’t think I will be visiting...
