Our most recent visit was New Year's Day for my partner's birthday, we arrived early and were greeted by a friendly young man, who seated us straight away. Our table had a card with a "Happy Birthday" message for my partner which I thought was a lovely touch. We were asked if we would like Prawn Crackers which arrived promptly and were given a few minutes to look over the menus. An additional mocktails menu has been added which is perfect for anyone doing "Dry January", the mocktails we tried were delicious. We opted for the Chaophraya Sharing Platter to start - a good selection of starters, nicely presented, packed with flavour and each cooked to perfection. For mains we opted for Chicken Thai Green Curry - which had a nice level of heat, full of flavour and the chicken cooked perfectly. Beef in Black Pepper Sauce - which wasn't to my personal liking but my partner enjoyed it, and said the beef was cooked perfectly. We also opted for sides of Egg Fried Rice & Five Spiced Chips. The chips were a slightly small portion for the cost but non the less enjoyable - crispy and full of flavour. The restaurant had a nice atmosphere and as always the staff friendly, informative and attentive. Lovely decor and very clean. After our main courses a dessert was brought out for my partner with a candle which was such a lovely gesture and appreciated. Throughout January there is a 30% discount on a la Carte menu which is an added bonus. We look forward to visiting again end of the month.

We visited Chaophraya after seeing it had won the Yorkshire 'Best World Restaurant' awards 2023, so were eager to give it a try! We booked our table for 6:30 but were running late. We called the restaurant to let them know, which was no problem at all and our table remained reserved. Upon arrival we were greeted by friendly staff that showed us to our table and gave us the food and drinks menu. There is so much choice on the food menu, something for everyone, there is even a vegetarian section which you don’t always see. To start, we decided to go for the vegetable spring rolls and the chicken spring rolls to share, these came with a sweet chilli sauce which and were so tasty, and we're packed with fillings! For the mains, we both had the sweet and sour papaya chicken. Again the mains were so tasty and were presented beautifully. At first I was a little hesitant about the papaya being in the sweet and sour chicken but actually it went really well! The chicken was also cooked to perfection, full of flavour and coated in a really crispy but light batter. The sticky rice was also perfect! Although we were offered the desserts menu, we were so full from the starter and mains that we decided not to have a dessert, although there are some really good options! Overall, we were really impressed with this experience and can appreciate why it is an award winning restaurant, we would definitely return again!

We were really looking forward to our evening at Chaophraya Leeds, but the whole experience was a letdown. The food was good, but everything else fell short. Our starter arrived before our drinks, which shouldn’t happen in a restaurant of this standard. We were seated next to a loud, drunk group that completely ruined the atmosphere, and staff did nothing about it. Service was slow, disorganised, and inattentive. We had to flag someone down just to place our order, and after finishing our mains, our plates were left in front of us for over 30 minutes while staff walked by avoiding eye contact, at that point there was only 4 tables left at the restaurant. We felt completely ignored. When ordering mains, we asked if they had mango sticky rice. We didn’t order it, just enquired. After the long wait for our plates to be cleared, we were no longer interested in dessert. Still, not long after the plates were finally taken — without an apology or any check-in — a dessert just appeared at the table with no explanation. At that point, we were clearly ready to leave, and it only added to the confusion. They removed the service charge, but that felt like the bare minimum. For what we paid, the overall experience was massively overpriced. We left feeling disappointed and frustrated. Definitely will not be returning.

Oh my god, what the hell has happened to this place?! This was our favourite place to eat but after last night, I don't think I'll ever be back again. The menu has changed massively from the last time we were there and most of our favourites had gone. We ordered the Chaophrya sharing platter to start and what a joke this was. The chicken satay was not even chicken. It was more like the giblets that you throw away! The fishcakes were no bigger than a 50 pence piece and were more rubbery than the tyres on my car. The salad was a basket of beansprouts with a few peanuts, I'm not even joking. I was so disgusted, I should have taken a picture but I didn't even think. The two spring rolls and 2 prawns were lovely but at £20 for a starter, it was hardly value for money. Then the mains. Who is supplying your meat?! The weeping tiger is my husband's favourite, this used to be made with fillet steak but that is not what he got last night. Looked like my grandma's over cooked joint on a Sunday! Dry as anything! Also, it was really fatty. Speaking of which, I had the lamb teriyaki. It was lamb cutlets. No meat on there, it was all fat. The best thing was the coconut rice, they didn't change that and it was delicious! That should not be the highlight of the meal. And then being presented with a bill for £80! Oh god I nearly died. We had to go to trinity kitchen to get something decent to eat!

It's such a shame because we absolutely loved this place and didn't mind paying £80 for a quality meal. That is absolutely not what we got last night and if I want old beef, I can make that myself for loads less than what you robbed from us last night. Sort your suppliers out, get your decent chefs back, and you might be back to where you were before you...

Beautiful exterior, lovely welcome but beware the offer of prawn crackers while you decide isn’t on the house. Outdoor marketing quoted lunch til 5pm but our 4.20pm arrival didn’t warrant that menu. We didn’t ask for it and decided to crack on with the A La Carte. Red house wine was excellent. Chilean Merlot. A lovely surprise. The service on the whole was good. Host was sweet and professional. Only point of contention was that she was the first of 4 servers. (She took the drinks order) Not a complaint by any means apart from one who was a little “jumpy” and the last provided a card with her name asking for feedback once we were paying up - we hadn’t met her til the very end - hence the feedback!

Food - two points. They take your order and then immediately ask which side you would like as if they’re included. They ain’t. Tiny portions of side rice, very average “salt and pepper fries” and side veg that included veg already accompanying my main. We knew the deal but wanted so see how the server presented our options. Maybe explain that they’re extra and suggest two out of three to share for example. Alas, it was old school car salesman teckers from jumpy. Secondly, guys easy on the sauce, i got a lovely sea bass that was sat on a pool of sauce, as was the duck dish, as was the short rib starter, Tone it down, it’s flooding the plate, you must surely see the waste? The green curry was great. The standout. I hate giving less than 5* but I think 4* is generous here. The better staff pulled it back and I hope you guys figure it out in time. Will come back to see if it reaches its...

we recently came for a meal on Friday evening as we normally do as this is our favourite restaurant in leeds. We were very upset and annoyed as our food was given to the table next to us by mistake. When the staff realised they had handed our food to the wrong table it was clear to see the woman had already started eating the rice dish. She said to the guy I've eaten some of it, he then took the plate and tried to hand it to us and we had seen what had happened. We said she has eaten from the dish, the guy who was serving us said no it's fine! When the woman had told him she had eaten it! He then said he would bring us another and by this time we didn't want one. My lamb chops which also got dished out to some guy and then changed to my table, were cold! They were barely cooked and were stone cold in the middle. Our shared platter starter was no way of quality to the starter we normally order and was very disappointed. The woman took my dish away to be cooked and apologised. Me and my parter didn't get to eat everything we ordered and my partner had already finished his meal before my new cooked lamb arrived. We are very annoyed and upset as we had planned this night for my birthday meal and we couldn't wait to leave your restaurant. The food was no way of standard that it normally is and the staff should no not to serve food to a table after people have eaten from it it is discusting from a restaurant of your standard. I have sent 2 emails to the restaurant and still haven't received any response. I think it is rude and will not be returning after this.
