Summary: Expected to have a very nice evening out, but left swiftly for home feeling very disappointed. A medium rate place that I gather was once considered good but is now for people who don’t expect much in the way of a professional, slick dining experience. They specify smart casual wear - people were in gym wear and shorts and t shirts and such like, they were not challenged at all. Importantly steak well done not medium as requested however food only slightly better than average.
The Detail: numerous waiters asking if we’d like a drink, when we’d already ordered with another (no big deal but not professional nor what I usually expect) Waiters plonked the bottled water on the table, didn’t open the bottle, nor poured the bottle nor topped us up throughout the experience. Starters fine, wine and cocktail drinks very good. importantly Asked for Medium done fillet steak, it was incredibly well done, not a sign of pink. A Big deal. Waiter offered to have it redone but said if would haven taken at least 20mins.. to which I said it’s too long to wait so no.. I then had to ask for a discount.. I shouldn’t have to. It was given in the end. A very loud place and not a very elegant set up, like a rowdy food hall but this is mainly due to the clientele who attend rather than the restaurant itself. Lastly due to the noise and food hall experience my partner wished to leave, so we promptly paid up and left, only to be chased down the street by a manager impolitely asking if we’d paid. To which he later realised we had. Not the service I’m accustomed to and very insulting. I asked why he thought we hadn’t and his reply was ‘the thing pinged to say we hadn’t’ I asked what ‘the thing’ was, didn’t get an answer but nevertheless he then realised we had paid. A disappointing experience all round, we...

My partner and I visited bibis this afternoon for dinner and, although the staff were generally very good, we found the quality and price of the food and drinks to be very bad. We usually enjoy to have a bottle of wine or cocktails with our meal when we eat out but after seeing the prices for them in the menu we opted to just have water and soft drinks. We ordered bread and olives for a starter (£8) but when the lovely warm bread slices came to the table someone had put the individual foil-wrapped butter packets on top of them (not only unhygienic but they had all obviously completely melted inside the wrappers).
For the main I had tagliatelle with truffle and mushrooms but the quality of it was equivalent to a supermarket ready meal and unfortunately the amount of garlic in there overpowered everything else, and most of the mushrooms were too chewy to be able to eat.
My partner had the tagliatelle pollo Alfredo, which he likened to just tasting like a chicken and mushroom pasta n sauce that you get in a packet and was abit on the dry side.
We were never checked on by the waiting staff to see if everything was OK with our meals so were unable to raise these issues during the meal (the total was £63 including the 10% service charge).
We are both well travelled and eat in alot of fine dining establishments across the world so we know good food but unfortunately we can't justify the prices that bibis charge for average to poor food. Therefore we will not be...
Read moreThis feels like reviewing a Rolls Royce. Slightly pointless. It’s a Rolls Royce! Well ok, maybe not the prices if compared to a Michelin star armadillo foam and kumquat steam kind of offering.
Imagine watching one of those films set in the 60’s or 70’s, where the place to be in town made it their business to make sure you had a good time. This is it. The decor is just like that, high end, timeless and classy. Not like any other place I’ve been. This was the second visit, the first being over a year ago. This time it was showtime (check out the website).
We were checked in by a very elegant lady, who offered us the choice to get a drink at the bar or be shown straight to our table. Naturally there’s a little wait for a cocktail as they take time to prepare.
The food was fantastic, creamy garlic mushrooms were delicious. The duck was superb. The service was perfect. Attentive and helpful. Staff appear genuinely happy too which is very important on the whole experience. It was a very busy night. Not too busy but all the tables were utilised for showtime. It made a fantastic atmosphere.
The act…. Michael Clews as Neil Diamond, well he was absolutely brilliant. I didn’t think I was a Neil Diamond fan but I am now. Upbeat, intimate, funny, can’t wait to see this guy again. My partner and I had a superb evening and lovely memories and can’t wait to come to another showtime. Thank you to the Bibis team and...
