Café Misto — Restaurant in Lincoln

We were staying in Lincoln overnight after visiting the uni and needed somewhere to eat. Everywhere else was really full, we saw Cafe Misto and thought it was closed as the owner appeared to be packing up. We were dithering by the doorway, he came out to us and was so enthusiastic, yes, he could do pasta, yes, he could make pizza, we might have to wait a little because he had to make the pasta fresh. Hard to believe we’ve been to the same place as the people who wrote 5-star opinions and mentioned an Italian owner/chef… but here goes our experience: Happy to see “Italian street food” and an Italian flag on the menu, we went inside. We were served by a nice German/Austrian man. The pizza was just a take-away supermarket pizza with some added mozzarella; penne arrabbiata almost did not contain tomatoes and was quite greasy - same goes for penne pollo. They cancelled two deliveries in the past week after taking payment… got refunded, but very inconvenient after taking time to choose everything. Once can happen to anyone, but a second time is inexcusable for any business. If you are busy or closed, then pause your availability in the app! Not rocket science. As they don’t care to pay attention to their delivery and availability, I’ve taken them off my list of places - which is a shame because I order lunch for the crew regularly… goodbye regular...
