A large modern coffee shop close to the centre of Liverpool and the main shopping centre. Set on two floors with a stupidly located central stairway with a narrow gap between the stairs and the till area, resulting in customers squeezing past others waiting at the till area - really poor design. Visited 22nd April 2024.
Four members of staff, and despite being such a large coffee shop there weren't any tables strewn with dead trays, cups or plates. Two members of staff were serving and making the drinks, a third was working hard keeping on top the cleaning and clearing of the tables and a fourth was in the small kitchen area. They seemed to be keeping on top of things, working well.
It was such a shame that the staff, who were busy, lost all of their tips, thanks to a preying person, who looked dishevelled, unkempt and dirty who took the opportunity whilst the staff were busy to delve both hands into the tip bowl, removing all the contents whilst declaring "I've got nothing"...witnessed not by myself but by several other customers. Apparently this is a regular occurrence, happening most days and sometimes as many as three or four times a day. Moments later two other men entered the store and tried to steal panninis from the display fridge; deterred on this occasion by another customer.
Such a shame as the staff were very friendly, helpful and efficient. The drinks were prepared promptly.
A well run coffee shop that has plenty of additional seating on the first floor, with several toilets on each floor. It's such a shame that the staff have to put up with such behaviour and appear to have accepted it as the norm.
Level 9 Google reviewer; 1,000 plus reviews, 1.5 million views and over 12,000 photos with over 45 million views and still going strong 💪. Although I'm not enamoured with Google and their service at the moment 🤷🏻♂️. They're inconsistent.

I usually write reviews after visiting multiple times. However, this place made me change this rule since I really wish not going there again.
The setting area is pretty nice - spacious, good natural light, and as tidy as possible (though my standards of cleanliness reduced after reading the reviews). Also, the coffee is nice, but that is mainly why someone will go there. I really doubt there are people going there for the service. And to tell you, in brief, I believe that the reason is because there is a poor customer experience (and this is far from what Costa claims as a business, but then again this might be a franchise poorly looked after).
Take my experience, I went there on a Saturday. Surprisingly, there was no queue for ordering - and I still waited at the counter (well fine, I understand you're busy, but the irony is that the cashier/barista left as I approached without saying a word). Then, I asked for an Americano only for my surprise to be asked if I want milk. Of course, I replied "No" (cause that will be a cappuccino or latte) with a feeling of indignation (thing that I believe was resented since the cashier felt to share it with the rest of the team). Now, I actually took a step forward and searched Americano with Milk which turns out to be called Americano Misto. Nevertheless, I would have appreciated if this was said to me while placing my order (it would have made a difference to my experience). However, now I doubt how well the cashier/barista is trained. Read moreGood location but the service and selection of items is terrible. We decided to stop here for a drink as it’s a prime location. When scanning the loyalty card on the app it said we had a free cookie except they had none in stock. I looked to purchase a different desert but the selection was lacking, there were empty trays everywhere. It’s only 1:30 so it’s terrible they’ve ran out of so much already.
So we just ordered our drinks. We were never once offered a receipt. When our drinks came they were just placed down with the server mumbling what they were as they were walking away. I had to check it was my order and I said to another server how do I get my receipt as I’ve never been asked if I want one. The server looked stunned and asked do I really need a receipt? No I’ve just randomly asked for one. I said for starters you can’t use the toilet without one (they have codes on the bottom). The server came over with someone else’s receipt, ripped the top off and went there’s the code. I asked for a receipt not...
