Perched by Queens Dock with a name that hints at the charm of Swedish coffee culture, this café promises "fika" but delivers little more than a scenic letdown. If you're expecting the Nordic hallmarks of quality and atmosphere, prepare for disappointment. There’s nothing remotely “Scandi” about the experience, except perhaps the chill in the air from the sterile interior.
The baked goods are sugar-heavy and forgettable, the coffee tastes more like punishment than pleasure, and the menu feels like a missed opportunity. The only reason I gave it a try was because I was with out-of-towners. Between us, we ordered a range of coffees, different styles, same disappointing result. The only real highlight was the scenery, especially watching the canoes race across the lake. For prices on par with the city's top speciality coffee spots, you’re paying entirely for the view (which is, admittedly, lovely) but view alone doesn’t make a café worth returning to. LE for the owner: Based on the responses you've given to previous reviews, I anticipated receiving a similarly sarcastic & unpleasant reply. I'm genuinely shocked that you fail to recognise how inappropriate it is to engage with customers in such an unprofessional manner. Common sense, as well as good business practice, would suggest that public replies like yours may do more harm than good in the long run.
To clarify a few points: – I'm not a competitor, simply a customer sharing my experience. – I'm not upset, nor was the intention of my review to harm your business. Reviews are meant to provide honest feedback to help future customers form realistic expectations. – The timing of my review has no hidden meaning. I’m not paid to write reviews; I posted it when I found the time. Aside from being a baseless assumption, this also raises serious privacy concerns. – Your suggestion to “let it go” is concerning, as it calls into question how seriously you would handle genuine customer feedback or issues, especially in cases where a product might need to be returned.
Regarding the coffee itself: the issue didn’t lie in a single cup but in the overall experience, suggesting a systemic quality issue; perhaps a combination of the coffee beans, machine calibration, or preparation process. Sending one back wouldn't address the root cause. Constructive feedback, like mine, is typically seen by thoughtful business owners as an opportunity for improvement, not as a personal attack.
Lastly, I would encourage you to reconsider the tone of your replies, particularly the overuse of exclamation marks and capital letters, which can come across as shouting. This approach can undermine your professionalism and potentially discourage future customers more than any critical...
Read moreWe attend this cafe with several friends for an adventure around Liverpool. Found a local small cafe to give back. On entering was told didn't open for food till 10am but was able to order drinks and sit and wait. At 10am we orded food we asked if we could swap things off our plates for alternatives ie black pudding & eggs ect... Was told very abruptly that alternatives will not be madewh8ch we acceped. After placing orders we was told to collect out own knives & folks from the stand. To be told food would follow in around 10 mins. We waited over 40 mins for a few to come out. Not the full order came together. On asking where the rest of the order was we was told we are still cooking it.. this had taken a extra 10 mins. When some of us receive our food most of it was cold and there was also food missing. When we asked were the said items where he said he had ran out. But didn't replace it with somthing else. On leaving we was all polite and thanked him for his service. Even though we had received an unpleasant experience. I would not recommend this cafe to anyone we understood its a small cafe but no where dose it say on entering that bookings should be made for larger...
Read moreWe came to Liverpool mid week, the cafe was quiet and started to fill up with people watching the kids swim. All really reasonable and good quality. I had a cappuccino and my husband had a hot chocolate (this was with mint and was lovely.). They didn't have any cream for the hot chocolate so gave us the cake I was eyeing up instead - which were all equally a beautiful. The cake was...
