🇬🇧 Liverpool's Hidden Food Gems - Must Try Spots!

Return visit for my wife and daughter and first time for myself and my mum. Greeted by friendly staff Rudy's had a relaxed atmosphere. Once seated we scanned through the menu and by the time the staff came for drinks orders we had already decided our food also. The buratta was the starter of choice around. A selection of pizzas were ordered and we sat back and relaxed. Drinks and cutlery arrived soon after and a few mins later our starters were here. The creaminess of the cheese mixedd with the peppery notes of the rocket and the sweetness of the tomatoes were great and felt really light and fresh. The toasted sour dough had a saltiness to it which again added an extra dimension to the taste. Starters devoured we awaited mains. Pizzas arrived and we were not disappointed, from the humble margarita to the spicy Cinghiale the based were thin and tasty and the Garlic Aioli is a must for those crust lovers amongst us. Beware the pizzas are large but we were hungry and it wasn't an issue. Coffee and deserts were too good not to try I had an Affogato to balance the creaminess of the gelato with a kick of espresso to bring me back from my impending food coma. Throughout our dining experience staff were friendly and attentive and it was great to see the team huddle as the the evening shift came on. Team work makes the draem work and this is clearly the case at Rudy's. Will look forward to my return visit to sample more of the menu.

This is a solid 5 star pizza. The pizza is crafted by a great chief who uses superb ingredients and thoughtfully build the pizza to look like a work of art by Michelangelo with one exception, the pizza is completed in a very reasonable time despite the crowds. When the pizza is served it’s best consumed warm/hot but the flavours are well presented and complement each other. The wood burning ovens impact can be delicately and meaningfully felt on the bread and crust. Speaking of the crust, one could order that on its own and still be as impressed as the whole experience here. Wait staff was brisk and friendly, they run a serious business of making patrons happy and not wait too long on the meal. No idle chit chat but you feel the care they have for how they will treat you as a guest of this fine establishment. They took great care with allergy concerns and carefully reviewed the options. There is plenty of options for those with an already. As a side note the home made fresh squeezed lemonade comes in a non alcohol and adult version. This was a splendid experience over all, makes me want to stay one more night in Liverpool which is also a great city.

We came last night after coming for the first time on Wednesday and I wanted to show my friends how delicious the pizza was. The food didn’t disappoint, it really was lovely (two of us used to live in Italy and it was the best we’ve had since then!) However, we were quite upset with how we were treated by the staff. I understand there is a pandemic and this is a stressful time but it sort of felt like our table was shunned while everyone else was having a lovely time! It took absolutely ages for someone to take our order, we then ordered 2 lots of olives which were basically thrown as our table all in one glass but with no explanation so we weren’t sure if we had been given 2 lots or 1. We also all ordered drinks but one person got theirs about 15 minutes before the rest of us which was bizarre. We had about 5 olives left when a waiter just came past and took them away without checking and left too quickly for us to say anything. Pizza came and it was fine, but then when we came to pay there was a bottle of wine on the bill which we hadn’t actually ordered or received. The waitress didn’t actually give us time to check the bill before asking for payment so I only noticed it after my friend had paid her half. When I brought it up the waitress was in a huff and went to sort it. The whole time we just felt a bit ignored and shunned for some reason! It ruined what would have been a really lovely meal that we were excited to have with our friends! It’s a lovely restaurant but I just think the staff could have been a lot more pleasant. I actually felt quite upset about the whole thing. I’m not sure if we would return...

Adisappointing experience I had recently at Rudy’s on Castle Street with one of your managers.

The situation occurred when we arrived at the restaurant at 9:26 PM, based on your Google listing, which states your hours are until 9:45 PM. Upon entering, we waited by the front door, but a female staff member glanced at us several times and chose to ignore us. Shortly after, one of your managers approached and informed us that the restaurant was closed.

When I mentioned that the online hours indicated you were open until 9:45 PM, the manager replied that the closing time was actually 9:15 PM. When I reiterated that the website said 9:45 PM, he responded rudely, saying, “I’m the manager, I decide.” I then suggested that perhaps the online hours should be updated to avoid confusion.

The manager’s tone and attitude were unprofessional, and the female staff member’s decision to ignore us added to the frustration. The poor customer service, especially from the manager, was quite upsetting. The next day, I emailed the restaurant to ask about your last serving time and received inconsistent replies. I also noticed online that the last booking is listed as 9:30 PM. Since we were at the restaurant before 9:30 PM, it felt like the staff had intentionally chosen to ignore us

As a regular customer of Rudy’s, I’m deeply disappointed by this experience. It’s misleading to display incorrect hours, and for someone who is neurodiverse, this inconsistency is especially confusing.

I hope you can take this feedback seriously and make improvements to avoid similar issues...

Really disappointing experience this evening. Came for a nice meal with a few friends I hadn’t seen in a while. The girl who first served us and took our order was lovely and food was good, but everything other than this was awful, as soon as we had finished our pizzas we were told it was ‘last orders’ for drinks, never heard this in a restaurant before. We ordered a few drinks. Straight after this bill was put on table. I said we wanted dessert, she came over to take dessert order (hadn’t even had time to look at menu), one person in the group wanted a cup of tea instead of dessert and was told couldn’t as last ordered had been served and so coffee machine was turned off. Straight after another bill put on table, and then a man came over with card machine. I said to him we felt quite rushed. He said the restaurant closed an hour ago, it was 21.35and I looked it up and restaurant closes at 21.45. I have never felt so rushed in a restaurant, and to be told it closes at half 8 is ridiculous, most restaurants take booking up until 21.00. The staff obviously all wanted to get home early, and it really wrecked our night, hadn’t seen one of my friends in years and didn’t even get to properly catch up with her. From about 8.50 really awkward rushed atmosphere. Won’t go back. On my way home local restaurants were still open and yet a city centre restaurant rushed people out and hour earlier. I wouldn’t come here for a meal out for a social reason, only if grabbing a quick pizza and...
