I am expressing my disappointment following a recent visit to a Wetherspoon branch in Liverpool during a family gathering.
There were 12 of us, and we decided to enjoy breakfast at Wetherspoon, attracted by its great reputation. Upon arrival, the restaurant was quite busy, and we noticed a display encouraging customers to use the Wetherspoon App. I decided to give it a try. The app was easy to download, and with my location turned on, I selected our breakfast items and paid. Meanwhile, other members of my family went directly to the bar to place their orders.
After some time, everyone else had received their orders except for my husband and me. Concerned, I approached the bar to inquire, only to be told by the manager that my order had been sent to a different branch. The manager explained that I would need to collect the order from the other restaurant or reorder at this branch. This was highly inconvenient as we were unfamiliar with Liverpool, and leaving the family gathering to find the other location was not a practical option.
I explained the situation, highlighting that this was my first time using the app and visiting Liverpool. Despite this, the manager was unwilling to assist further, citing company policy. I was left with no choice but to reorder and lose the money paid for the initial order.
To make matters worse, the manager’s attitude throughout the ordeal was dismissive and unprofessional. She did not offer to call the other branch, provide their contact details, or even apologize for the inconvenience. Instead, she walked away abruptly, leaving me feeling humiliated in front of my family and other customers.
This experience was deeply disappointing, and I feel let down by the lack of empathy and support from the staff. I followed the app’s instructions and cannot understand why the app’s location service failed, leading to such a frustrating experience. I filed an official complaint online with customer service, and to my surprise, their response was the same—they blamed me for ordering from the wrong restaurant. In reality, I was sitting inside the restaurant when I placed the order. Now, customer service has decided to ignore my email altogether. It’s incredibly disappointing to have such experiences with a company...
Read moreDuring my recent visit to Liverpool, I had the pleasure of stopping by The Welkin, a Wetherspoons pub situated in the heart of the city. Overall, it was a delightful experience that left me with a positive impression.
Upon entering The Welkin, I was greeted by a warm and inviting atmosphere. The pub's interior had a classic and traditional charm, with its cozy seating arrangements and tasteful decor. It's the kind of place that makes you feel right at home from the moment you step inside.
One thing that immediately caught my attention was the vast selection of drinks available. The bar had an impressive variety of beers, ales, and spirits, making it a haven for any beverage enthusiast. The well-stocked bar and friendly staff made ordering a breeze, and I appreciated the reasonable prices for both food and drinks.
I opted for one of their signature dishes, and I must say, it didn't disappoint. The food arrived promptly, and it was delicious. The generous portions and flavorsome ingredients made it a satisfying meal. The menu had a good mix of classic pub fare and some unique offerings, catering to different tastes.
What truly set The Welkin apart was the outstanding service provided by the staff. Despite the pub's popularity, the servers were attentive and accommodating. They seemed genuinely interested in ensuring that guests had a pleasant experience, which added to the overall enjoyment of my visit.
The only minor drawback was the noise level, especially during peak hours. As with many vibrant pubs, the lively atmosphere can sometimes lead to a bit of noise, but it didn't detract significantly from my enjoyment.
In conclusion, The Welkin Liverpool is a fantastic Wetherspoons pub that offers a welcoming environment, a wide selection of drinks, and delicious pub food. The attentive staff made the experience all the more enjoyable. If you're in Liverpool and looking for a great place to relax with friends or enjoy a meal and a drink, I highly recommend paying a visit...
Read moreTL;DR I would recommend a visit, but keep in mind seating may be limited due to the size of the venue. Review: Worth noting this is one of the smaller Wetherspoon venues you'll likely visit, and certainly the smallest in the area. And it is very likely that you won't find any seats free if you're looking for a sit down meal. This isn't a negative against the pub at all, as they can only do what they can with the space provided. But I'm putting this in the review in the hope it may help someone who is planning a visit to the area. There are a very limited number of seats outside (front and back) however I have never once seen these seats available. There are several other Wethrspoon venues nearby with more seating so consider this if searching specifically for a JD Wetherspoon. Again, this is not the fault of the venue I'm just making people aware. Although it was very busy when we visited, the food came quickly which was appreciated. However, the chips had been in a bit too long. The toilet cubicle doors did not lock on all stalls due to damage. So not ideal. Our table hadn't been cleaned when we sat down. There were no dishes but salt and other condiments had visibly been spilt. None of the staff seemed happy here, which is different from other Wetherspoon venues I've been to. Not sure if this is a coincidence. All in all I would recommend a visit, but keep in mind seating may be limited due to the size...
