The worst dining experience in recent memory. We were seated at a very small table in a place that was not nearly full. The chairs were uncomfortable, wood and metal, and the round (about 20" diameter) table had a round iron base that left little room for our feet. Various extraneous items were on the table and I had to have them removed to make room for the dinner plates when they arrived. My partner ordered a steak, which she said was fine. I ordered sea bass, after asking the waiter which of the two fish dishes was better. When it arrived, it was two small fillets, each about 1/4" thick, unlike and sea bass I have ever encountered, though they tasted OK. the fish was accompanied by a rather flavorless coulis, and plain cous-cous. The best food was the bread and butter, followed by a decent assortment of steamed vegetables for us to share, potatoes, carrots, green beans, broccoli, red cabbage (nice), which were devoid of any seasoning. When we complained to the waiter about the seating, and the fish, he sent the manager over (after perhaps a 20 minute wait). She insisted the fish was sea bass, though I replied it must have died at sea of starvation and washed up on shore. She offered no accommodation. I am not a difficult person to please, but the combination of poor table situation, indifferent service, and the dish I was served made for a very unpleasant dining experience. We were tourists, and unlikely to return to the restaurant, and I am sure the manager and...

mon dieu c'était épouvantable

This was not only one of the worst French meals I’ve had, it was one of the poorest I have ever had.

menu sounds good: pan-roasted lamb rump cooked medium or well done sliced served on top of garlic crushed new potatoes and a mint salsa verde = rubbery lamb chunks, on spuds dowsed in mint sauce (£25.50)

pan fried duck breast with tenderstem broccoli, pan fried potato and a red wine jus - read rubber duck covered in loads of bisto gravy (£22)

(kids) homemade breaded chicken nuggets served with fries and a petit salad = deep fried bought in southern fried chicken with chips (£8.95)

Dauphinoise potatoes arrived after we’d finished our mains, and appeared to be potatoes microwaved with cheese.

One of the guests had the fish and said it was fine, so not a complete write off.

Perhaps should have known after we arrived given how quiet the restaurant was on a Thursday night and having seen the state of the gents

The restaurant has a good Trip Advisor score which is very mysterious. Though appears to be propped up by a lot of reviewers who have only ever reviewed this restaurant.

We really should have complained at the time, but didn’t as we were too polite and too English. Makes me feel a little bit sick knowing how much we spent on this meal though.

About as French as that bloke out of ‘Allo ‘Allo and less competent at passing for French...

Our first dinner with my Contiki group was in Liverpool at Bistro Pierre, a French bistro. We were on our own for drinks but had a 3-course dinner planned for our group of 53 people. A few of us split some bottles of wine and we were given options as to our 3-courses. For wine, we went with a Australian chardonnay and a Spanish tempranillo. The wines were ok and I liked the red Spanish wine more than the white.

I went with the butternut squash risotto, roasted chicken breast over leeks with a white wine & tarragon sauce. They also brought us a variety of vegetables served family style: fried potatoes, pickled cabbage, steamed carrots, broccoli and potato au gratin. For dessert, I opted for the chocolate-orange cinnamon mousse. The servers were great bringing out the orders per table. We chatted while the food came out. The risotto was creamy and the rice was al dente. The chicken was nicely plated and I really enjoyed the white wine tarragon sauce. I was a little disappointed with the mousse. I misread the blackboard thinking that they had three flavors of mousse but in fact, it was three flavors in one dessert. No matter, I was mostly full by that point so I just picked at it while others were finishing up their meals. We were headed to a pub across the way for drinks and on to the Cavern Club...

I’ve had better crème brûlée before. Bowl was chipped! The shrimp linguine was not bad taste wise but was too oily and there was only 5 pieces of shrimp! Overpriced for what it is but at least they offer student discount. I would have taken the 3 course menu but unfortunately there were no halal options, even the fish option contained alcohol. No one was willing to accommodate. I wasn’t happy with the customer service, I felt like I was not welcome and their body language made me feel like they were forced to serve me. For example, the waiter that brought the main course just placed the plate in front of me and ran off even though it was not busy. He didn’t smile, he didn’t say enjoy your meal or anything. It was also difficult to grab their attention, I had to stand up by the door for someone to come and take my payment. Perhaps they’re not used to having Muslim customers, not an excuse really. Will not return.

Lovely place, lunch was excellent. The lunch set menu at £15 for 2 course Menu was a bargain. Both dishes were well presented and great portions. You can choose any Starters or Main from the A La Carte ( couple of dishes have a small supplement). I tried the Moule Marinière as a starter, they were really nice served with a slice of garlic bread, the sauce was amazing with a delightful fragrance of lemon and anis. For main the Sea Bass topped with capers was delicious, served with mix veg, potatoes cooked to perfection. Congratulations to the chef to present such lovely food so fast. The waitress Bee service was sensational, very professional, attentive and friendly, one of the best I had in UK. Merci encore for a lovely lunch, will most certainly go back next time I am in Liverpool.

Went there yesterday. Weds is wine and dine after 4.30. Two courses and a bottle of wine per person for £22. I had the roquefort salad with walnuts and tomato and mum had king prawns. For main i had beef stew with red wine which was nice but a bit rich. Mum had the chicken supreme in creamy sauce. Didn't have a dessert. Think you can have main and dessert for the two courses. Portions were large enough. The white wine a savignon was lovely and crisp. The waitress Natalia was lovely and very friendly.
