Summary:From my experience the food was good that evening. Also, the place was, for me, definitely worth a visit for the price to portion size ratio. It may be the case where your eyes a bigger than your stomach. The friends I was with enjoyed their meals as it filled them up and couldn’t finish everything on the plates.
Now in more detail: My friend was looking for a good Halal place to eat. This was in the evening while we were visiting Liverpool. Toro’s was a place that had already been well reviewed so we decided to go there.
First impressions were that the place was colourfully decorated which gives of a nice feel while you are having a meal.
There service there was good that evening and don’t have any complaints about it. The staff were engaging and helpful. However, it’s important to note that when we arrived there the place wasn’t too busy. There were plenty of empty tables so I don’t know how service would be affected at a busier time.
I wasn’t feeling too hungry that evening and just ordered the Lamp Steak. This is where I will say do not underestimate the size of the portions. You will get A LOT of food.
The steak itself was great when it first arrived it was sizzling and soft which was the same for everyone’s order. Which in my opinion is excellent presentation. (If you want to have a look, please see the video below).
The meat itself was cooked well and tasted fine, I have honestly had better but I don’t have any complaints about the taste. It did go well with the pepper sauce I ordered. The sauce, this is only personal preference, could have been more peppery as I do enjoy a very peppery sauce.
With the steak I ordered the country vegetable medley and a free-range egg. (Because I wanted an egg) The vegetables were cooked well and not overdone they still had that bit of bite to them instead of being soggy. The egg was fine a bit small but compared to the amount of food you get this is not an issue.
The friends I was with definitely enjoyed their meals as it filled them up and we couldn’t finish everything on the plates.
I will note the only bad point of the evening, the drinks, ordered mojitos which were not good. There were 2 mint leaves in the drink, which okay can be forgivable, but unfortunately it tasted more of a watery syrup. Ended up just ordering water and left the mojito alone. So, I can only recommend to order non-cocktail drinks. I hope this will change in the future though.
Overall, the meal was worth the price and from that experience I would go again. And based on this experience I would recommend to try this place out if you fancy a steak before...
Read moreBy far the worst dining experience I’ve ever had!
My husband, baby, and I were visiting Liverpool for the first time, and we decided to try Toro’s restaurant to celebrate my birthday. Unfortunately, it turned out to be a terrible mistake that completely ruined our evening.
The service was beyond disappointing. I ordered the surf and turf with chicken, but to my surprise, I was charged the price of a sirloin steak because, according to the staff, “that’s just how it comes as standard.” It felt like a blatant way to overcharge customers, especially since I hadn’t even ordered steak.
To make things worse, the prawns that came with my meal were raw in the middle. When I pointed this out to the waiter, instead of offering to cook a new batch, he took them away and brought them back completely burnt on the outside, yet still raw on the inside. After telling him once again that the prawns were still undercooked, I was completely put off from eating them. No further attempt was made to rectify the situation.
At the end of it all, I was left paying £38 – and that was with a 10% discount – for what amounted to nothing but chips, a small portion of mash, and some burnt onions. Everything was practically inedible. The chicken itself was vile, tasting like it had been mixed with something unpleasant that ruined the flavour completely.
Despite the issues with the food, they refused to offer any proper compensation beyond the small discount. My birthday was completely ruined, and I left feeling utterly disappointed. I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone. Avoid it...

I’m a regular at Toros – I’ve been to the Coventry, Leicester, Birmingham, and Manchester branches, all of which have been excellent. So while on a family day out in Liverpool, we decided to play it safe and go with a trusted name. Sadly, this was a mistake.
From the start, things went downhill. There were only 2–3 tables in at the time, but it still took 15 minutes for anyone to take our order. As the restaurant got busier, we noticed that other tables who arrived after us – even larger groups – were getting served before us.
I ordered my steak medium, but it came out completely overcooked and tough. They offered to remake it, but said it would take another 30 minutes – on top of the 40 minutes we’d already waited. The pasta tasted like it was tossed in ketchup, and the rice was plain and flavourless.
Several things I asked for were either missed or delayed: no fried onions, no fried egg, no green beans, and the chips only came after reminding them twice. By the time the missing items finally arrived, my main had gone cold.
It wasn’t just us – other tables around us were clearly having the same issues. This was by far the worst Toros experience I’ve had. Really disappointing, and it spoiled what should have been a nice day out. I wouldn’t recommend this branch at all – should’ve just gone to...
