Amazing new bar. Visited yesterday. Had a pint of 'Kandata' by Chapter Brewing and 'SilverKing' by Osset Brewery.. Both darn fine pints. The pub itself.. Keep a similar aesthetic to 'The Red Lion' & ' The Engineer', it really is fantastic inside. Snug and warm with a roaring wood fire, plenty of seats hidden in the nook and crannies and stuffwd to the gills with curios and taxidermy, this place is a right up my alley. Lovely atmosphere inside with people there to relax and soak the whole experience in. Outside has a decent sized beer garden, which you know during the summer months will be a little suntrap and make this a busy place. Adjoining the pub and another bar called 'The Engineer', which is equally good and gone for an aged industrial look, with well heated comfy nooks set above the bar, each fitted with a TV so perfect to watch the match if you desire. Can see both bars becoming very popular in the future. Hoenstly, if you get a chance to visit I can not recommend...

Absolutely awful and disappointing experience at this pub. My son had a pint of cask ale that had clearly gone past the point it should be served. I run a brewery myself and therefore I am in very strong position to know when a beer is no longer good for sale. I took it back to the bar where I was told I was wrong and they would not take it back. I told the lady behind the bar, that I was a customer and a brewer and so know my subject. She told me she ‘didn’t care’ and a replacement would not be made. Hugely disappointing not only from the perspective of a customer but also as a passionate supporter of cask ale and the quality of its service. I won’t mention the brewery here but will be in touch with them to warn of this level of customer service and inability to serve quality cask ale...

Didn't eat here so can't do a food review. This place looks really classy curbside so we went in for a drink only to be transported to an earlier time in history. Everywhere you looked there was something old or interesting to look at. When you venture upstairs there is another bar and it just gets more interesting. We had a cocktail which was great and we definitely would recommend and return. Out the back there was a covered courtyard that was shared with another bar called the engineer (this also had upstairs seating) and an outdoor terrace which had lots of space and was larger than you would expect from...

This pub came highly recommended to me and we made a specific journey to the area just to visit it. This was last Monday September 8Th and although we had to endure a brief afternoon rainstorm we were not deterred in our journey. We arrived just after 3.00 pm only to discover the front door was locked. Thinking we had the wrong entrance we went around the back and this confirmed it was definitely not open for business. I hate to review anything negatively that I didn’t actually get to enter but I really went out of my way for this visit so maybe they should correct their hours as posted on Google maps etc.
