Asiatique Thai - Richmond — Restaurant in London

We came on a Saturday and ordered the set menu. We arrived at 2pm on a sunny day and we were the only customers there which was a telltale sign. The starters came and I have never had anything more tasteless in my life. There was no taste with the prawns and the fried squid was mostly batter with almost no squid. I was very hungry and I couldn't bring myself to eat it. The milk tea came and it was just ice on condensed milk with two drops of tea. They actually tasted disgusting sweet without any taste of tea. The main came and the Pad Thai was hard. Pad Thai is not a difficult dish to get right and I was shocked by how hard the taste and the noodles were, very thick sweet sauce and nothing more. The rice was hard and dry, i think they have been cooked and sat there for a while. There was a small side of vegetable and there were 2 pieces of brocoli with 2 pieces of small pok choi inside. Like I said, I was very hungry when I came in and I couldn't bring myself to eat any of the food on the table. I am shocked by how bad this is especially with Richmond being quite a popular spot for food. This place should just close down as it is giving Thai food a very bad name.

On top of all, we were the only customers but the service was very slow.

Had a pretty disastrous Mother's Day meal here. Had to wait 15 minutes for the pre-booked table to be made up. You have to order on an app, which doesn't contain much information about what the dishes are, yet you order drinks via your waiter!? One waiter - who clearly needed more training - managed to spill two drinks over me and my children. Food took quite a long time to come out of the kitchen. The lemon tea didn't taste of lemon (even when we aked for some more lemon juice) and needed more sugar; was also full of ice, and this was worth £4.50!? Replacement drinks still took a long time to come, and we had to chase up other drinks later on in the meal. The food itself was OK, but we asked for the sea bass to be filleted on the app and it didn't come out like that. Portions are not that large for the price - certainly not sharing size. Manager did give us a free starter and seemed to reduce the drinks bill, but communication throughout the meal was really poor and generally service left a lot...

Great restaurant that I would highly recommend.

The staff were very friendly and we sat in the rear garden area, which was enclosed in a marquee (thankfully as it was raining). The food was delicious and very reasonably priced. I had the Tom Kha soup with prawns and the green curry with chicken and some coconut rice. I had fresh lemongrass tea to drink. All of this was deliveries although perhaps with a tad too much coconut cream - but that’s my palette.

The only reason I’m giving it 4 stars is just because my food was a little too creamy for my taste and also because I have to be really impressed with a place to give it 5 stars. I guess I’m just a harsh judge!

However, let me sum it up this way, I would be happy to come here again and for the price you’re paying I think it’s very good value for money and I don’t think you can go wrong with this place.
