We were greeted by a warm smile and endearing conversation from our lovely host and chef Morakot.
As we received the menus, she kindly asked if we would like some drinks whilst we deliberated over our order and when we asked what was available, we were presented with the colourful mocktail menu. The recommendation was the Chef’s special infused with bergamot and freshly squeezed orange juice. This arrived promptly in a pitcher with a generous garnish of forest berries and reusable straws. If you enjoy twister ice lollies you will love this refreshing drink. It smelt so good that it entices you to keep drinking more!
We quickly acknowledged the attention to being a sustainable and ethical business and appreciated how much it felt like being hosted by a close friend in their home.
With the insight from our host, we settled for the vegetarian mixed starter, vegetarian burgers and some sweet potato fries to share.
The starter was presented beautifully and arrived in good time. The satay skewers are worthy of an honourable mention as the flavour was incredible and the texture was very much on point.
Our burgers were present in beautifully folded sandwich paper and every bite was bursting with the perfect combination of salt, fat, acid and heat. The Thai sauce that accompanied our fries paired so well and offered an extra kick.
We loved that we were seated a short step away from Morakot’s work Station - not just because it gave reassurance that everything was freshly made, but also because we were able to enjoy an authentic experience of feeling privately hosted in her beautiful restaurant.
Through our conversation we discovered she has been running this business from strength to strength for the past five years and caters the delicious menu as a one woman team. Everything we tried was tasty, but certainly made with the attentiveness and care that you can only receive from food cooked at home.
For this reason I feel compelled to encourage anyone to visit this quaint spot in Merton Abbey Mills! We will certainly be...
Read moreMorakot! A beautiful human, with wizardry skills in food, flavour, color, texture and aroma. Recommend by my daughter Georgia and boyfriend Jay. We have been anticipating visiting for a while, we were greeted very warmly like meeting an old friend, Morakot who cooked food of her choice, we were treated to a platter of starters, skewers, spring rolls and dumplings. A brief break chatting with our host and learning about her colourful past. Then we were presented with salmon and vegetables, vegan Thai curry, Polish dumplings and rice. Now, I am very particular and have dined all over the world, the experience, service and quality of food I’d the best I’ve ever eaten. Visit, visit, visit! Honestly if o had a last meal, this...
Read moreCannot recommend this place enough. Honestly from the decor to the food to the service, every thing about our visit was perfect. Morakot the owner/chef made us feel like we were at her house and she was cooking especially for us. She spent time speaking to us and we are just gutted we haven’t been here before! The Thai green curry is hands down the best we’ve ever had (and we have been to Thailand!!). The pad Thai is delicious and the morakot delight mocktail was perfect. Next time we visit we will definitely call ahead to book (rather than booking online) so that Morakot can get the salmon in advance, I’d recommend calling to book rather than using the online service.
Thank you again for the most...
