I went here with my friend on the eat out to help out in August. I want to start off with the two stars given was for the service and not for the food. Both our dinners were really nice and I love Ayas food in general. My friend had never had Lebanese food before and she was very impressed. I always go to Aya in South Wimbledon and have never had a problem with maybe over 20 timeās visiting that restaurant including for my birthdays and works Christmas dos etc. Iāve also bought food from the little one on the broadway many a time after a night out and Iāve always been happy with the food and service. Iāve had takeaway from the Collierās wood branch but never eaten in. I wanted to book a table at South Wimbledon Aya but was told it was still closed hence booking here. The restaurant wasnāt overly busy but they might have had a lot of takeaway orders. Our food took so long to arrive. We asked for some water whilst we were waiting and the waiter brought us one glass of water not two. Not a problem, we shared the one glass. When we asked for more later we were given one each this time. We both ordered starters and my friends came before mine. Sheād eaten hers before mine arrived and when mine did come it came with my main course. Later the waiter came over to us and said weād need to leave as they were expecting a party of eight and needed our table. We said not a problem and asked if there was another table for us and he said no though there were plenty of free tables. I asked him if he was asking us to leave and he said no but said weād been there for 2 hours to which my response was oh sorry is there a time limit? If so we didnāt realise as when Iād booked she didnāt mention it and no one said anything when we arrived. He said there was no time limit. I was confused. I said well you are throwing us out then he laughed and said we donāt throw out our customers. I said well you are because youāre asking us to leave our table without providing us with another one. He rolled his eyes and put his hands out then after a long pause he said are you ready to leave to which I replied no, weāre not ready yet. He walked off and proceeded to complain about us to one of his colleagues. A few minutes later we asked for the bill, paid it including the service charge which we easily could have refused then left. In all of my life I have never ever been treated like this on an evening out. We were very polite and we didnāt make a scene or anything and initially put it down to maybe a language barrier and maybe he was stressed etc making all sorts of excuses for his behaviour but on reflection I think he was just downright rude. We werenāt even asked if weād finished or wanted drinks or dessert. I wasnāt going to write this review at all but decided to in the end as I feel like this particular waiter needs some retraining or some sort of redress . I have the utmost respect for the owners and staff at Aya but our treatment on that night was appalling and actually spoilt our evening to a certain degree. Iām really hoping that this review will be taken as constructive feed back and will not be responded to by blaming the customer like some of the replies Iāve read on here from...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI've had an awful experience in this restaurant . I went there during the 'eat out to help out ' (Covid time)to help local business . We ordered a set meal for 2 person but we were shocked to see the portion .it wasn't even enough for one big individual There was literally one adana kebab , 4 pieces of chicken cube , 4 pieces of lamb cubes and 3 teaspoons of lamb shawarma and 3 spoons of chicken shawarma I had to call the manager to show how is it that the portion was enough for two.people to which he said I will get you some more which after waiting for a long time didn't come and when I asked again the staff said they ran out of lamb shawarma . They didn't have high chair for my baby daughter and the service was horrible yet they charged 10% service charge on the bill. In my experience , this would be the worst I have ever had .
I'd advise others to read my review before making their decision
Update Below my review you all can see that the owner/Manager has replied with a blatant lie saying that I ordered a meal for one person . I'm attaching my receipts for the food that ordered . Now can anyone find me single meal which normally costs £43.95? Please check their set meal section and the meal for 2 person is prices for £43.95 I ordered a coke as well and a glass of tap water that day Honestly there's no need to embarrass yourself more than this (to...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe best Labenese food I had in ages. This was not our first choice. We initially went to Sofra Grill in Sutton but because we went there an hour before they close, 3 out of 4 dishes we chose to order were finished. Therefore we came out without eating. Our next choice was Gourmet Wimbledon and while walking to that I saw Aya and asked my husband to try this.
The restaurant was empty as it was around 10.30pm but that suited us because we had 2 young kids. We order chicken liver, Hommous Shawarma, baby chicken grill for us. Chicken wings and lentil soup for the kids.
The food was prepared fresh and they served us quick even though they were quite busy with takeaway and home delivery orders. The even gave us chips, bread and rice complementary.
We were served by Ali and he was so pleasant and nice. We even asked him for more bread which again he gave us free and when he came to know that we came from far then he gave us a big bowl of free baklava and a lot of sauces for our left overs.
I am glad we chose Aya and we absolutely loved it. I definitely recommend it and I am going to be their...
