I had a very disappointing experience at Baraka Eatery in London. From the moment I walked in, the service was unwelcoming. A waiter even spat as I was walking upstairs, which was shocking. Then, despite there being available space, we were told we couldn’t sit upstairs for no clear reason.
When I asked for a spoon for my soup, they didn’t provide one, which made no sense. The staff seemed indifferent, barely engaging with us, and instead focused on serving wedding guests upstairs. They avoided eye contact and acted robotic, with no warmth or care in their service.
I also specifically asked whether a drink was freshly made and whether it contained sugar. Instead of a proper response, they brushed it off with a dismissive "yeah, yeah, it’s fine"—completely ignoring my actual concern. Turns out, the drink was loaded with sugar and syrup, which I didn’t want. It felt like my preferences didn’t matter at all.
To top it off, when we got our takeaway, it was handed to us in a flimsy paper bag. When we went to complain, the response was dismissive—"It’s fine"—which made it clear they didn’t care at all. On top of that, the bill seemed unreasonably high, around £50 for just a few dishes.
While I did enjoy my soup, I suspect it wasn’t fresh. It looked like it had been stored for days.
Overall, the customer service was poor, dismissive, and lacked basic courtesy. The staff seemed to just go through the motions with no genuine effort. I wouldn’t return or recommend this place based on...
Read moreI had an extremely disappointing experience at this restaurant, which completely ruined what was meant to be a special evening celebrating my brother’s birthday.
We ordered five meal deals, each including mashed potatoes, daal, salad, and a main. We only received one daal and one salad to begin with. After complaining, they brought just one more of each, when we were clearly entitled to five. I also had to remind the staff four times that my 7-year-old son’s meal was missing—it finally arrived 30 minutes later, when the rest of us had nearly finished eating.
Food arrived in bits and pieces—two mains were served, and the rest followed much later. This meant some of us were eating while others had to wait, which made the whole experience uncomfortable.
I had also ordered a jug of lassi and a Fanta. I had to ask again near the end of the meal, only to be told they had run out of Fanta, so I had to settle for a Sprite. Throughout the evening, service was slow, disorganised, and careless. I raised my concerns but received nothing more than a brief “sorry”.
We had even brought a cake to celebrate the birthday, but after the way we were treated, we decided to leave and go to another restaurant instead.
I used to visit this place often a few years ago and always enjoyed it, but the service and quality have gone downhill badly. This was my second bad experience in a row, and I’ve now decided I won’t be going back.

Read moreI visit the restaurant with my wife and kids. I will not recommend this place to anyone. Firstly my wife ordered ilish (bengali fish curry) the type of fish is very popular with a distinguish taste and look.. When the dish came to our table my. Wife said to me this isn't ilish fish. It didn't taste or look like the fish. We are too polite so we didn't complain. Then my dish came to the table.. I ordered chicken korai but they gave us lamb which me and my daughter have allergy to. I was really angry at this point as when the waiter took the order he didn't write our order down.. I found this quite strange.. I thought maybe he's quite clever and has good memory.. Boy was I wrong. When I told the other waiter of the mistake he was apologetic. I told him to take my nan along with my dish and get me the chicken.. They put the nan in the kitchen so it will start hot when I get my chicken korai....... After my wife had eaten most of her dish my daughter and me was getting very hungry... When the dish came out the nan came too and the nan was cold. I was peed off... Chicken korai was very tasty but let down by the waiter who made a blunder with my order... He was very arrogant as he should have come and apologised for his mistake on taking the order so for his mistake I am writing...
