I do not come to Kingston often, so was looking for a homely and welcoming atmosphere to have a coffee and a chat. The pictures online seemed to seal the deal for me.
I ordered the iced latte which was fairly decent. I was considering ordering the drip coffee which, from looking at other reviews, seems to be highly rated. I have never tried any sort of drip coffee before and the flavours e.g. Jasmine seemed cool to me.
Unfortunately, I decided not to go through with this order as, when I spoke to a member of staff here (who sounds a lot like the member of staff who has been consistently complained about in previous reviews) about what the deal was e.g., would the coffee taste like jasmine, or if it would be scented in that way in which case would determine the outcome of my order (understandably?!) he replied in a condescending and mocking tone, "ummm, YEAH" I was immediately taken aback.
To this totally inappropriate manner I replied, "... yeah, what, sorry?" to which he begrudgingly explained the concept, which would have been adequate the first time? I decided to order the iced latte and be done with this interaction asap.
Apart from this, I wish I could rate other aspects of this cafe accordingly, but I fear my judgement will be clouded by this unpleasantness of the staff.
If you're already in a bad mood, and would like a place to unwind, I would avoid...
Read moreI visited the Organic Coffee shop yesterday with my 2 year old daughter. We arrived at 14:25 on 20-12-2021. We ordered 2 hot drinks and two toasted sandwiches to sit in. The lady at the front desk was polite and great with the service. There was a gentlemen fixing the coffee machine and seemed to be very angry. When we received our drinks I asked the lady if she could pour our hot chocolate into a take away cup for my daughter so that she does not spill. The gentlemen with the beard that was fixing the coffee machines shouted me for standing there and I explained that I'm waiting for the lady to pour my coffee drink into a takeaway cup. He said I must listen and when I was explaining to him I was waiting for the lady to pour it for me he walked away. We continued to eat our meal and I was upset. He also burnt the toast but I'm not complaining about that. When we left, I told him thank you and I said next time you must be polite to customers and he they started being rude again. he said if I want to review or complain I must do so. There was a staff change and when I asked the new lady at the front till for his name she said No. Absolutely shocking service from that gentlemen with the beard behind the counter....
Read moreI like to come here after my Saturday shift as a treat from time to time. The coffee is great and I really like the pistachio cookies. However, this afternoon I encountered rudeness from one of the staff (chap with a man bun) that was completely unacceptable.
As he was busy serving a customer I turned the cookie container around so I could see what flavour they were as the label was facing inwards. He promptly spun round and turned the container back so I couldn't read the label and told me aggressively that I should have asked to touch it.
I can understand why me touching it might annoy him but I had merely not wanted to be rude and interrupt and I wanted to decide before my turn so I didn't take too long at the till. My issue is not being asked not to touch it but the disproportionately rude and completely childish response. Ironically he scalded me like I was a child whist simultaneously behaving like a child turning the jar so I couldn't read it !
It's a shame that one of the few good independents in the area has been marred for me. I don't think I'll be back unless i know he's not there. Life is stressful enough without dealing with people like this in places where you...
