This was my first time ordering from this branch and having takeaway from Beer+ Burger via Deliveroo. I am a fan of their burgers and normally I would eat in at the store in King’s Cross. I ordered the Bacon cheeseburger and The Big O and I was disappointed because the level was not en par with the store version.
Big O
In terms of flavour I could not really feel the spicy nduja, which did not feel spicy at all. The meat was very flavoursome. Great amount of ingredients and meat overall. The combination of textures with the crispiness of the fried onion rings and the smoked mozzarella was interesting. However, the patties were a bit pale and dry and, even though the meat was well done (I did not order it that way) it did not have that nice caramelisation that the Bacon Cheeseburger had.
Bacon Cheeseburger
Very great combination of flavours where all the ingredients were hitting the buttons. Good ratio of ingredients too. The meat had better caramelisation than The Big O. However, I felt the meat was a bit dry too and well done (did not order it that way either.
My main issues with the delivery were both burgers having their buns very dry, and the meat being well done. I have not had this issue in the Burger+ Beer store in Kings Cross, where buns were softer and slightly grilled, and the meat was cooked to perfection without being too overcooked (see pic at the end for comparison).
It can be difficult to make a medium-rare / not overcooked patty with a smashed burger, but I had it before at Beer+ Burger in store, and it was hoping to get the same thing with the delivery version. I am disappointed considering how great these burgers are in King’s Cross.
Still, overall the burgers were good and I will certainly order them again. Although I have the feeling that this is one of those places where it is better to eat in store. Or maybe the King's Cross...
Read moreI hate posting this review because I genuinely love this place. Me and my mates come here every few weeks for a nice catch up and they have an amazing selection of beers and the staff are polite and knowledgable. Our visit today though was far from ideal. We got there at 2pm (the store opens at 12) and we ordered a few sides, burgers and beers. My wife is pregnant and at around 3pm she had a craving for dessert. I proceeded to order the rocky road bites but they’d run out of them. I decided to get the cheesecake but they’d run out of that too. So they had run out of desserts on a Saturday at 3pm (which is fine, these things happen). We now had two options; either go to another place to have dessert or stay here but get something from Sainsbury’s next door. We decided to stay there as we do genuinely love the place and get some ice cream for my wife from next door. As soon as she opened the ice cream, the manager came over to tell us that we can’t bring food in from other places. She said it was fine for my wife to have it but none of us can have it. Now I get that, and I would adhere to that if you weren’t so terrible that you run out of desserts 3 hours into your opening time (what kind of business are you running??). Also, we could have just gone somewhere else and not given you the custom of buying our beers and other sides throughout the next 3 hours. I get that companies have policies, but there’s something called common sense which the manager clearly lacked in abundance. I’m just extremely disappointed because we loved this place until now. I don’t know if the management or business model has changed after all the expansion to Kings X and O2 but I really hope they bring back the old more personal touch. Oh and bring back some common sense... it’ll...
Read moreI really wanted to give this restaurant five stars because the food was really good. In fact one of the best vegan burgers I have ever tasted but the manager sadly put me off my food. The manager; a stocky, fairly large man with brown hair, wears glasses around 5’7 i believe was racist towards me. His customer service was bad. Really bad. I read his body language and attitude as hostile. He clearly doesn’t like single black men such as myself in his restaurant because when he came to deliver my food personally, he showed his true colours. I tried to be friendly and crack a joke, he wasn’t having none of it. I will emphasise this again and again and again if I have to. I don’t go to restaurants for the food or fancy artwork/interior design I go for the customer service. Customer service is everything. You don’t, you cannot single me out just because you don’t like the colour of my skin. It’s unacceptable. The man’s attitude stunk really bad. It’s the 2024 and as nice and as courteous and as personable as I am it’s absolutely disappointing that I am still discriminated because of what I look like. Such a shame. I tried to get him to smile, I tried to compliment the place but I was met with nothing but contempt. I take customer service or lack of very seriously. After my meal I felt numb and under appreciated. The good news for me is I won’t ever make that mistake again because my visit to this restaurant was final. Such a shame. I’m happy for the other customers who did not receive such treatment. Good for them and bad for me. Good luck with...
