Called ahead, made a reservation for 7pm. Arrived a bit early, and the staff tried to sit us, a party of 4, at a table for 3 at the window. The restaurant was otherwise completely empty (strike 1). So begins the hustle. Start looking over the menu, and the waitress is by our side trying to up-sell us at every turn (strike 2). Tried to order some starters, several of which were out of stock (strike 3). The staff claimed that they had run out of food because "they are so busy", but we were sitting in the restaurant ALONE, for 50 minutes (strike 4). The starters that we did have were OK. The mirza-ghassemi was delicious, as was the kashk-eh-bademjan (bonus points). But the tahdikh sliders were not tahdikh. They were rubbery and not crisp (strike 5). Tried to order gormeh sabzi - out of stock (strike 6). Vegetarians in the party asked for fesen-jan with aubergine, staff checked with chef, and got the green light to have it made. When the fesen-jan arrived - it had mushrooms instead of aubergine - without us being asked (strikes 7 and 8). We complained, they said they could make something else, but I was concerned that anything we asked for would be out of stock.
Total disaster. Over-priced for small portions of warmed up Persian fare.
I had to argue with three people (a waiter, a waitress, and the owner) to get a discount on my tab.
Be warned - the doukh is poured out of a bottle - not freshly made or anything like that (strike 9)

Read moreBeautifully decorated restaurant with gourmet-style Iranian dishes, making Belgrave Restaurant one of a kind when compared to other Persian restaurants in London.
We were greeted warmly and chose a table of our choice. The menu was well structured and easy to follow. I highly recommend their unique selection of cocktails. Unfortunately several popular menu items were either not available or were substituted with [less exciting] alternatives.
The ‘sangaki’ style bread was complimentary and more could be brought to your table on request. Unfortunately the bread served is not fresh, which is noticeable from its taste and texture.
Dishes were all very well presented; although it was a little disappointing that there had to be large gaps during service until everyone at the table received their meals. However, this is totally understandable seeming as they only had one chef working at the time.
In spite of other reviews, the portion sizes seemed perfectly adequate. That being said, I did find it rather cheeky that they’d charge £2.30 for a 220ml, mixer-sized bottle of Coke.
All in all, great to finally see a Persian restaurant that is finally breaking conventions, throwing typical dishes like ‘joojeh kebab’ or ‘koobideh’ out the window!

Read moreStarting from the food down to the location, everything was perfect! I've already been here a couple times and it has been, BY FAR, the best Persian restaurants in London. Belgrave is three blocks down from Abbey Road Studios which was super convenient during my first visit to London. The interior of this restaurant was so beautiful and cozy, it was as if I was a guest in someones fancy home &they have this beautiful vintage vinyl record player that was playing all kinds of music. The owner was super accommodating and her staff was so professional and sweet, felt like home. The chef made every single dish so perfectly. Personally, my recommendations are: -Lamb Neck, the flavor??? absolutely delightful -Torsh o Shirin, is a whole baby chicken and has a unique taste combining sweet and salty. Very soft fall-off-the-bone type chicken -Gheymeh or Chicken Tachin (baked lamb/chicken rice cake) and order Mast O Khiar (yogurt-cucumber) on the side. It had the perfect amount of crunch to each bite and it was huge!! Get yourself a nice cocktail if you're not a dessert person like me. I got the Saffron Martini and the Persians Kiss &its super refreshing after a filling meal
Overall, the experiences were so amazing every single time I went. I cannot wait to go back,...
