I’ve visited London Coffee Bank several times and it’s consistently one of the best cafés around. The place is clean, stylish and welcoming with a calm atmosphere that works well whether you’re popping in solo or with family. The staff are friendly, attentive and always ready with helpful suggestions. It’s kid-conscious too, with lovely outdoor seating when the weather is nice. Best of all, all the food is halal which makes it easy to recommend.
⸻
Hot Beverages The coffee has a strong, rich flavour with more of an Italian profile. It leans on the bitter side so if you’re used to smooth Colombian coffee you might prefer it as a latte or with milk. The iced matcha is solid and they offer a good range of milks. I tried both cow’s milk and oat and found the oat milk to be smooth and just right for the drink.
⸻
Smoothies The smoothies here are excellent. The pineapple smoothie is fresh and uplifting while the avocado one is thick and creamy. There’s also a super green smoothie which I expected to be a bit too healthy but it turned out to be really well balanced and enjoyable. It’s great if you want something nutritious without sacrificing taste.
⸻
Pastries The almond croissant is a personal favourite. It’s large with a lovely golden exterior and filled with a generous layer of almond cream near the bottom. A real treat for any adult. Due to its size and the amount of cream, it’s not ideal for splitting with a child.
⸻
Sandwiches and Light Meals The beef pastrami sandwich was full of flavour with the mustard adding just the right amount of sharpness. I also had the spicy prawn sandwich which was a pleasant surprise. Flavours were spot on but you’ll want to hold it carefully or the filling might slide out.
⸻
Breakfast and Mains The eggs Benedict was well made with perfectly cooked eggs and a balanced hollandaise. The full English included all the essentials and was filling and satisfying. My only critique would be to upgrade the sausages for something better. The Spanish omelette with added cheese and mushrooms was one of the best things I’ve had here. Simple and exactly how I like it.
⸻
Salads The beetroot and goat’s cheese salad is delicious and comes with walnuts and a generous portion. It’s a great option if you want something lighter, especially after a workout.
⸻
All the meals I’ve had here include a fresh side salad which is a thoughtful touch.

Read moreThis coffee shop is a real gem for the local community — a welcoming, independent space ideal for meeting, working, and connecting. Its focus on locally sourced ingredients and independent spirit is genuinely refreshing, especially at a time when so many high streets are dominated by chain coffee shops. The coffee is excellent, and the food menu is thoughtfully curated, offering quality options that feel both personal and authentic.
The location itself is a true advantage. Nestled within a vibrant neighborhood, it naturally lends itself to becoming a hub for local residents — a place where people can feel at home, meet friends, or simply take a quiet moment to work or relax. It’s clear that a lot of thought has gone into creating a space that supports the community and champions local enterprise.
However, my one reservation — and it’s an important one — is the choice of music. On several occasions, walking into the shop has felt more like entering a nightclub than a cozy coffee house, with loud club tracks dominating the atmosphere. While energetic music has its place, in a coffee shop setting it can be jarring and disruptive, especially for those who come seeking a comfortable, engaging environment to read, work, or socialize.
A coffee shop should reflect its customers and surroundings, fostering a sense of belonging. The current music choices risk alienating the very community the shop aims to serve. A more considered soundtrack, one that enhances rather than overwhelms, would help create the warm, welcoming atmosphere that this beautiful, locally sourced café deserves.
Supporting independent coffee shops like this one is essential — and I truly want to see it thrive. With just a little more attention to the in-store ambiance, this place could become an even more cherished part of the neighborhood. Some staff could do with some...
Read moreWe come here weekly, and have always enjoyed the food. However, in recent weeks the levels of service and cleanliness have declined dramatically.
There is always a queue when I arrive and staff seem overwhelmed, panicked, and completely unable to run an efficient ordering system. They are friendly, but hopeless. 20 minutes to get a coffee and being brought the wrong order have become normal occurrences.
The interior needs a refresh, especially downstairs. The chairs used upstairs are very small, so anyone who isn’t straight sized cannot comfortably use them, and has no option but to use the benches downstairs. Downstairs is fusty, dingy and staff often seem to be using it to do rudimentary stock takes. Furthermore, the toilets clearly do not get checked regularly throughout the day and are dingy and grimy. Today, water suddenly started pouring through a ceiling light fitting. When the kitchen staff called a colleague (possibly the manager), he seemed very nonchalant about it, despite it being a clear health and safety risk.
Overall, nice food (if a tad expensive - £4 for a coffee and £10 for a toasted sandwich, but staff need to be better trained and the cleanliness...
