🚇 Bethnal Green 🍺 £6.40 Camden Pilsner ❤️ The new breed of East End Pub. . The Bethnal Green Tavern is located on busy Bethnal Green Road. Bethnal Green tube station is only a few minutes walk down the road. . This pub was rebuilt in its current guise in 1864 and used to be a Charrington’s house called The Camden Head. It was taken over by Wetherspoons for some years and called The Misty Moon, in 2020 The Graceland PubCo took over what is today, The Bethnal Green Tavern. . This is a large one bar pub with a good size servery at its core. The decor here in main is traditional with lots of copper poser tables and low level seating. The pub is fairly dimly lit as most of the natural light comes in through the front windows, as you head towards the back of the bar it does feel cosy with the candles on the tables. At the rear of the pub is the beer garden with plenty of benches and covered spaces. . The beer selection was very impressive with over twenty beers, ales and ciders to go at. After a bit of consultation I decided on a Camden Pilsner, I have never tried this beer before and thoroughly enjoyed it. Price point though was expensive for the area. I was feeling a bit Hank so I decided to check out the food menu. I ordered a Fish Finger sandwich and fries for £12, my food was delicious and a hearty portion. . I visited around 4pm on a Saturday and the pub was busy with an upbeat atmosphere. There are two types of pub in Bethnal Green, the staunch local full of punters that have drunk in the same pub man and boy. The other is full of new residents to the area, young professionals and students who are part of East London’s gentrification, this pub is the latter. The service here was excellent, the staff really know their stuff and were very hospitable. . The @bethnalgreentavern is a fantastic pub with a superb beer choice and decent tucker. The atmosphere and vibe here is relaxed and chilled, the service is top drawer too. One of the best of the new breed in the area. . ℹ️ Info correct on...
Read moreI feel somewhat conflicted giving this review as the Bethnal Green Tavern is clearly a good establishment with an interesting array of drinks. However, I visited on Friday night with some friends and, having checked the menu beforehand online and seen that vegan food was available, had planned to eat at the pub. This was not the case when we arrived- the menu simply said "vegan options available soon" and we were given a fairly limp apology as recompense. I then had to leave to get food before coming back in an hour or so later (and then waiting ~40 minutes to be served upon rearrival). It is bad enough for a pub to not have any vegan options available (however temporarily that may be for), but to advertise that said pub does have vegan food available while actually not doing so is frankly shocking. Unfortunately this soured my whole experience of the evening, and with so many great places to drink in Bethnal Green, I will not...
Read moreCame across this place whilst on a work visit to London. We only popped in cause I needed the loo, and so glad we did!.. It was a week day lunchtime. Checked out the menu, and was drawn to the waffle, eggs and avocado. My colleague went for waffle, egg and bacon... The bar lady was friendly, smiley, warm and patient whilst we decided... 5/10 mins after ordering... WOW! I can honestly say, this was one of the most delicious meals I have ever had. Just amazing! The avocado was laced with chilli and spring onion. The poached eggs were cooked to perfection, and the maple syrup worked perfectly with it all!! I live an hour and a half away, and walked out of the Tavern, thinkinging about when I could come back with the Mrs, so she could sample the food. It was that good!!! Needles to say, next time I'm in London, I'll be making time to pop...
