POTENTIAL CUSTOMERS PLEASE READ THE NEGATIVE REVIEWS ON THIS “restaurant” and see how the “owner” attacks people who do not have a positive experience at his dingy “restaurant”.
My experience - I received a very warm welcome when I arrived which was appreciated (at the time) but it pretty much went downhill from there.
My friends organised a surprise birthday afternoon tea for me and had spent a long time trying to find the right venue for me as they know I’m a foodie and love music so when they saw the offer on Wowcher they snapped it up.
They arrived before me and were immediately disappointed as the venue looked nothing as advertised and apparently the music doesn’t start until 7.30pm which isn’t very helpful as brunch is over by then so it’s false advertising.
The food…. So they paid £19.99 per person and we received 2 mini burgers each, half a very small portion of chips and a Krispy Kreme doughnut. My classic burger was lovely but the crispy chicken burger was very bland and had one chicken nugget sized piece of chicken in it. Even though I was starving I struggled to finish the chicken burger. There were no drinks included not even a soft drink so my friends bought a bottle of Prosecco.
The “host” didn’t seem to be able to host. He asked us for our orders and said that the chef needed it quickly then got carried away chatting and didn’t take our order for ages.
When we did get our order we had to ask for napkins and again we had to wait for ages to receive them. A salted caramel milkshake was ordered by my pregnant cousin who obviously couldn’t drink and was not received by the time we had finished eaten and was never mentioned by the “host” again.
I was the most content of the group as I appreciated the efforts the girls had made to organise something nice for me, however they knew what they were expecting and it had fallen extremely short.
When we left my friend showed me the WhatsApp exchanges with the owner beforehand which were extremely rude. Which after reading some of the responses on google I am not surprised.
Please do not respond to my review “owner”. I suggest you put your energy into fulfilling your offers as advertised, customer service and general manners, not responding to customers in a combative tone.
FYI- You have legally breached a contract as you have presented an offer that we accepted and then you have not fulfilled it.
All the best 🤞🏽
*Update - forgive my typo. I meant £19.99 for 2 people. It’s still irrelevant. The food was not worth £5 and despite the “owners” response, the negative feedback wasn’t anything to do with having to pay for Prosecco. It was being miss sold an offer, awful customer service and food. I’ll leave it there as he has shown his character in the manner he has responded hence why he will continue to get bad reviews. He can argue with himself while his customers are probably going thirsty, napkinless and searching for seasoning for...
Read moreWhere to begin? First of all I have been looking at other negative reviews and the managers responses are rude and unprofessional. I bought wowcher deals for 5 of us, all travelling from various locations as we thought it sounded amazing. Booking the afternoon teas in even seemed a little odd as you had to message Andrew with the wowcher codes - you couldn't just book it via the telephone or a website. Andrew confirmed all of my codes had been redeemed and we were all booked. The entrance to the restaurant is extremely unclear and we all initially went in the wrong way. Once we had found Bite Me Burger, it still felt like we were going the wrong way as you walk through a dark corridor to some steps which then lead down to a very dingy and cluttered-looking restaurant. The tables and chairs looked all over the place and are all very close together. Admittedly I was almost an hour late but the other 4 guests were not but had not even been offered a glass of water or anything else for that matter. Andrew made some sarcastic comments about my lateness (which was out of my hands) and then told us that because we were so late (even though it was just me who was late) that we just had to wait until everyone else was served and he seemed to make a point of taking his time. He even shouted across the restaurant that we had him in "real trouble" and other diners looked confused by this. If we hadn't have paid we would have walked out. Andrew had redeemed my voucher codes already so there was no reason why my friends could not get started. Why in this day and age is it necessary to have to print out vouchers? (which I did bring but were exactly the same codes as what he had been messaged!) After over 2 hours of waiting our food arrived. The burgers were lovely, but for the price of the afternoon tea you got 1 glass of prosecco (not a full glass) 2 mini burgers (very mini!) and a choice of cake, which was either a Krispy Kreme doughnut or a very basic-looking cupcake that looked like it had been made by a 5 year old for £15.50 per head. This included a £3 surcharge per person which Andrew justified due to there being no service charge (which we wouldn't have paid anyway) Avoid this place and read the other reviews and their responses to get an insight into what it's like. It did seem to be just Andrew doing all of the serving/taking orders/serving drinks etc but it wasn't even that busy. More staff definitely needed. There was a couple sitting next to us who also waited a long long time and sat there looking very annoyed. We didn't deserve to be made to feel uncomfortable and were massively...
Read moreMe and my mum went down to London for a city break at the beginning of July and have to say the experience we had at Bite Me Burger was one of the major highlights of our trip! It was our first visit and we had booked the afternoon tea groupon with free flowing Prosecco! Firstly the food was excellent! We had a fantastic range of mini burgers to choose from and was offered a discount if we wanted to add extras. The burgers were cooked to perfection, were full of flavour and despite their smaller (rather cute) size, were actually quite filling! We loved how with the mini burgers you are able to try a range of different types such as chicken, beef or fish and you are not just limited to one style. I believe they also have a vegetarian option too. Our cakes were delicious and fresh with the novelty of some being shaped like a burger, one having a small hotdog made from icing on top and a recently new addition to the menu of a Kinda Bueno style cupcake which, were all gorgeous! We also added a truffle fries to our afternoon tea which, was a lavish portion size and was served piping hot! Of course the food was so good we had a second round of mini burgers that subsequently completely filled us up.
The fabulous and also quite unique food is undoubtedly one enormous selling point for this lovely little independent restaurant in the heart of Camden but, what really made this special for us, was the incredible customer service we received from Andrew the owner. He could not have been more friendly, welcoming and helpful if he tried! After rushing around all week trying to fit lots in, what we really needed was somewhere nice to enjoy/relax and Andrew instantly makes you feel at ease. You can literally have a conversation with him like you’ve known him years. He was also very generous with the free flowing Prosecco and as soon as he saw our glasses were empty. He was straight over to top them up, always with a smile and super up beat attitude! Once the allotted time for the Prosecco had come to an end, we were also given the option to buy the remainder of the bottle for a discounted price which, was certainly an offer we couldn’t refuse. We definitely feel it’s quite rare to find a restaurant that offers so many personal touches as Bite Me Burger or find owners that put in as much care, effort and dedication to their customers as Andrew did for us!
We personally whole heartedly recommend paying this little gem a visit and will definitely be returning in the future when we are back down in London! Thank you for making our trip and visit...
