The friendliness of all the ataff really struck me.
I was here for a performance upstairs by ambient artist Amané (which was excellent).
I came hungry but with barely 20 minutes to spare. I was keen to sample a burger and beyond butter bacon burger, bur concerned it would take too long. Upon positing my quandary to the barman he made a quick enquiry and happily reported the kitchen could 'smash one out in 5 minutes!' so i ordered one along crinkle fries (and secret sauce) and a (frugal) tap water..
I sat down, enquired after (and promptly received) the WiFi code. Moreover in less than 5 minutes my food was conveyed to my table.
Whilst enjoying my deliciously juicy burger and crispy bacon with the fries and tasty secret sauce (of which alas there was only one tiny pot) i was twice asked (by different people) if the food was ok (it was certainly more than ok: it was exquisite) and my tap water was voluntary refilled.
Every member of the staff team was friendly and helpful and genuinely a seemed to care.
Upstairs watching the show the audience and bar ataff kept quiet throughout Amané's performance of eno's ambient work (thankfully unlike the punters and glassware handlers at sister venue the jazz cafe).
My sole criticism of the upstairs venue was the lack of any seating (normally not an issue if I'm dancing but standing is not particularly conducive to the live...
Read moreFirst day clubbing So after finding out that Ice Wharf had closed it's clubbing features, my friend and I wondered around Camden finding a club to go to. My friend suggested that we go to Barfly but didn't know whether I would like the music though I was all down for new experiences and it certainly was a memorable one. Entrance was really cheap (£6) and the bouncer were really nice. The music was mainly old school and house but even if you didn't know some of it, you could still jam to it. The bartenders were really nice and served our drinks relatively quick. It was crowded and there was alcohol spilt on the floor but I dunno, I really liked that type of scene; Seems like a really hyped place. You will sweat a lot because there is a lot of people that go to Barfly bur there's an air vent above a small area of Barfly. There was an upstairs which had a DJ and live music but I preferred downstairs because of the hyped people. Also a warning for the ladies, don't expect guys not to flirt with you, ask you to dance or come up behind you to dance, unless you're with a boyfriend. Overall, brilliant night out with my best friend, couldn't have asked for a better...
Read moreTheis venue in camden is a pub downstairs and upstairs has a smaller bar with a dancefloor and a stage. Downstairs bar does cocktails (hibiscus margherita is highly recommended if you like something sweet). Security are professional and friendly. Bar staff also friendly. Thres a cloakroom before you go up (£2 per jacket card payment only). Unfortunately we went for a particular even - Stormzy vs Wiley Party, which was not as advertised. We bought tickets in advance (£5 each) which said there was a 9.30pm start but when we arrived (at 9) we were told it didnt open until 10.30pm. If we had know there was a different start time we would have planned our time differently. Then when we finally got up, the DJ did not play any grime music just commercial Rnb, rap, hip hop, etc. We stayed until 12.30 waiting for some grime (which we had come specifically for and chose this night over another grime night) and the uninterested looking DJ played only 1 grime song (Vossi Bop by stormzy). Why advertise a night based on a grime clash and then play no grime music ? This is false...
