A Special Coffee Experience at Black Sheep Coffee, Bromley In the bustling world of coffee shops, where the baristas come and go, it’s rare to encounter someone who truly stands out—not just because of their skills, but because of the warmth and authenticity they bring to their work. I’ve spent the last few months frequenting Black Sheep Café in Bromley, and over that time, I've had the privilege of getting to know one barista who, without a doubt, has left a lasting impression on me.
It’s not every day you meet a coffee shop employee who remembers not just your face, but your name, and greets you with such enthusiasm that it feels like you’ve been friends for years. She’s one of those rare people who makes you feel truly seen, even in the midst of a busy coffee shop filled with orders and routines.
What really struck me is how she consistently greets every customer by name, even before they’ve placed their order. It’s not just a casual “Hello”—it’s a warm, personal greeting, a small but significant gesture that makes you feel like you’re part of something more than just the routine of coffee buying. Each time I walk in, I’m met with the same level of attention, a reminder that in this fast-paced world, there’s still a place where people go the extra mile to make you feel valued.
As a blog writer, I actually asked her if I could write something about her and take a picture for a feature—but she politely declined and simply said, “Just leave a review if you can.” So, here I am—writing this review, because people like her deserve to be appreciated.
I’ve experienced countless places, but it’s people like her (Lakshmi) who deserve more than just a review—they deserve to be recognized for the impact they have on others. Her kindness and authenticity are what make this café truly unforgettable.
Moments like these are what truly make a place stand out. It’s easy to grab a coffee on the go, but when someone takes the time to make you feel like more than just a customer, it turns an everyday routine into something memorable. This barista doesn’t just serve coffee—she serves kindness, and that’s a rare gift. It’s the little things—the personal greeting, the smile that never feels forced, the genuine interest—that elevate a simple coffee shop into a place you look forward to visiting. Black Sheep Café has become more than just a pit stop; it’s a space where you feel seen, heard, and welcomed.
For anyone in Bromley, this is a café you don’t want to miss—and trust me, the experience will stay with you long after...
Read moreI visited here on 4th May with my Guide Dog, Pyrgo.
I’d never been to Black Sheep before and had heard loads about their coffee and vibe so wanted to give it a try.
I walked inside and waited…And waited…And waited to be served. I’m pretty flipping obvious with a Guide Dog in full branded harness along with me being 6ft (ish) tall.
What was worse was that at least one member of staff came past me and acknowledged my dog.
I felt entirely awkward after a few minutes so, walked out of the shop ensuring I said: Shall we leave then Pyrgo if we’re not going to get served.
I clearly had been noticed by someone as possibly hoping for service as two beautifully hearted ladies came up to me on the high street and expressed somd concern as to what they had witnessed inside the shop.
They offered to buy me a coffee if I wanted to go back into the shop but, at that point, I just felt rubbish about the idea of going back there.
They recommended Gails Bakery across the street which they knew well. So, I went there instead.
I’d say over all that if Black Sheep offered good customer service then it wouldn’t matter whether or not I was blind and had a Guide Dog. It’ll be interesting to see if the company respond but, thankfully, there are many other coffee shops Pyrgo and I can frequent in...
Read moreSince opening, I have been a regular visitor buying coffee usually on a Saturday at 5-6pm. TODAY WAS THE LAST TIME I WILL VISIT ! Whilst sitting outside with my daughter, other half and dog we were spoken to aggressively by a member of staff ( Mature lady ) stating that we could not eat anything not purchased from the store ( my daughter was eating a donut purchased from Greggs a few doors down ). I fully understand the concept of eating items purchased on the premises, however we would have purchased a drink/coffee more food in the “seconds” that followed, my other half went into the shop, clarified our intentions when a further member of staff ( guy with long hair ) started to reiterate/get involved when he did not know what our issue was! We went and will not return again!!
My Thoughts Black Sheep Bromley! Clarify the situation Be empathetic Explain/reiterate your policy if req Smile when delivering your message! Apply better customer service Be polite with customers Train other staff in the above Coffee outlets are copious in the area - protect your business and don’t lose customers by not applying the above!
