Blue Orchid Chinese Takeaway — Restaurant in London

I bought a takeway from Blue Orchid on Thursday night and it was the most disgusting meal I have ever tasted. I ordered mixed meat curry but asked for no chicken and also a portion of special fried rice with no chicken. The mixed meat curry didn't contain even a teaspoon of meet - a couple of unidentifiable shreds of meat and sauce was watery. At first glance I thought it was a vegetable curry. It was like a tin of baby food - normally a curry has slices of meat - this was non existent. The special fried rice had a few shreds of chicken despite being asked to omit the chicken. I've never had such a horrible Chinese food before and I can't understand how this place has 5 star reviews. Salt and pepper prawn were so dried and chewy, duck in black bean sauce had 4 small bits of duck meat in the whole portion but there was loads of cauliflower in it(who puts cauliflower in this dish?), duck fried rice was missing the duck meat, same as the other dish and there was so much onion in it that the whole thing tasted like a boiled onion and the chilli oil had absolutely not a drop of oil in it, just chilli flakes and seeds, egg fried rice 3 stars out of 5. Was passing by and thought I’d grab a quick bite to eat. Honestly, I wasn’t expecting much, but the food was fantastic. I ordered the beef udon and Salt and pepper squid. No lie, it was the best I’ve had by miles. Udon was cooked to perfection: saucy, flavourful, and with the perfect amount of beef and vegetable. The squid was satisfyingly crispy and not chewy or rubbery at all! It tasted amazing.

The owner was very friendly, welcoming, and humble, and he seems to really care about his customers and his food.
