Chucs Cafe Kensington — Restaurant in London

Undrinkable coffee and terrible service. I have been living in South Kensington for over a 15 years and I it's very hard to find good coffee around, well, I got to excited thinking of how great this cafe was setting up, with a refurbishment and nicely decorated. All these just to serve the most disgusting coffee in the neighbourhood! this morning I meet up with 2 other ladies and we ordered some poached eggs with avocado and toast, and the duck egg with extra mushrooms, a late, a cappuccino and an espresso: The breakfast has not flavour at all, the mushrooms arrived 10min earlier than the duck egg which was too salty, we asked several times for the espresso before it arrived and the late and cappuccino just tasted like dirty water from an ashtray. When they charged for the bill the waitress didn't bother asking if there was any problem with the coffee or why is that we didn't drink it. This is my question for the owners: Previously Chucs there were two cafes in the same space which now are in bankruptcy, if you think you can make money just from the look of the cafe and it's privileged position with Italian waitresses to pretend you know about food and coffee YOU ARE WRONG! People will try once and never again unless they are idiots with the taste on that part of the body situated below the back o have not idea what is really valued for money or you pay for...

I made a reservation via The Fork app and I was excited to take my brother for Sunday brunch. As we entered the restaurant we were ignored by the waiter at the bar, and then another waiter came past us and also ignored us. He went to hand the bill to a customer and then finally acknowledged our existence. Just an acknowledgment and maybe a “I will be right with you” is enough and I would happily wait longer. When the second waiter finally came upto me, I said I had a reservation and he called a lovely female waiter who was actually very welcoming and hospitable. She took me to my seat. We ordered food which came quite swift, it was nothing special but satisfactory. I then asked for the bill and unfortunately the 20% discount via The Fork app was not apparent on the bill so I had to ask the man to action this. I also asked him to remove the service charge as I did not have a good experience except from the lovely female waiter. He then came back with the amended bill, I paid and he didn’t even say thank you or bye or anything. He was quiet and clearly miffed that I asked him to remove the service charge which absolutely proved my point that the service was awful, again apart from the lovely female waiter who was very nice. This place turned out to be so lame. We initially walked by and had seen 2 people sitting at an out side table, sadly i did not photo it as I initially had photo’d the empty table instead. We left thinking the setting was nice. We came back to the place upon further thinking. The table was empty with a reserved sign on it. Us and another group came in at the same time. both saying neither had a reservation, (mentioning they were ok with sitting inside) He told me he could not sit anyone outside, tables were being reserved, there were reserved placards in the table. He showed me his iPad with reservation coming at 2:15. we were set on sitting out side so we left. Walking out I noticed he chose to sit the non reservation guests behind us at this table.

I went back in to inquire. He had an unnecessary tone with us and now believe that he decision was a discriminatory one. We chose to leave. Leaving, we over heard a table complaining their food was not right and the the others being undercooked. So this decision made have been...
